🤐Gag rules on Suspicious Activity Reports compel financial institutions to keep the fact that they're being investigated from customers.
It's also principally how you're de-banked and never told the reason why. How about Bitcoin and crypto firms that custody your funds?
A new Senate bill would apply the same for crypto institutions (+ custodians) and lower reporting threshold to just $2,000.
This means bitcoin + crypto custodians would be more regulated than fiat banks.
I will attempt to sum this up in an article opposing this bill, and I'll be sharing with the legislative staff of both of these Senators.
We won't comply.

I use both services, Proton and Standard Notes. Disintermediating these for both my communication and notes was always a strength.
As with its acquisition of SimpleLogin, Proton is becoming more powerful as a privacy company, and integrating a lot of tools and services that could be beneficial for consumers.
At the same time, it risks becoming a single point of failure for end-to-end encrypted services that many of us rely on. Standard Notes has a benefit of being open source and self-hostable, so I do hope this remains true going forward.

Visited the awesome Czech town of Brno this weekend, and it’s absolutely crazy how much you can buy w/ Bitcoin. Food deliveries, electronics, the local version of Amazon, ice cream, Chinese food, books, etc.
Very possible to live on a bitcoin standard in many parts of the Czech Republic/Czechia.
Helpful that Prague’s bitcoin community have been a fundamental part of adoption!

obv on my bday I drop an FTC opinion piece about FTC Chair Lina Khan being fawned over by Jon Stewart:
"It’s telling that when asked of any "success," Khan only cites the layup Martin Shkreli case instead of what she’s staked her tenure on, namely breaking up Amazon, Meta and Google"
