The story of today and tomorrow
The radio waves belong to them. The laws belong to them. But your mind is a wild territory that can belong to you and you alone. Tamers of Entropy posits that brainwave coherence is a skill, like coding or lifting weights. A way to tune out the signal of the state and tune into the signal of the self. It's the way of the digital nomad, the crypto-anarchist, and the seeker alike. Learn to hold your own keys to your attention. The first step is understanding the lock. "Not the kind of crypto-adjacent fiction I expected. It goes somewhere else entirely, into what consciousness becomes when you stop treating it as a fixed human property and start treating it as a trainable sense. If you've ever wondered what comes after the sovereign individual question, look inside Tamers of Entropy." Made our day. GM!
"The machines took over. Not the ones made of silicon. The ones made of paper, process maps, and statutes. People are their moving parts." Tamers of Entropy is a story about noticing, and about the people who looked at the hidden processes running their lives and decided to build something different.
What if we've been looking for consciousness in all the wrong places? In her new essay, Lisa — co-author of Tamers of Entropy — dismantles the idea that consciousness and intelligence belong to humans alone. Intelligence as a gradient that exists everywhere. Minds that "prompt" each other. Awareness that need not be continuous in time. Ideas that replicate using us as their substrate. And the heart of it: consciousness as a stand against entropy — systems that turn energy into order instead of decay. What counts as "truly alive." ? 🧠

We love how the physical books look and they come with nice physical goodies in a package. But we also know that shipping (and in some cases customs) can be both pain and expensive. So we finally made electronic downloadable versions - e-book in epub format and audiobook as an m4b file and an optional Android app, which includes the player. The download includes instructions what apps to use. The physical editions (paperback and premium) remain available as before. We will also be at BTC Prague at Liberation Travel stand, if you want to chat about the book, or grab a physical copy. If you want to get them, you can start here:

When a system is structured around different values, reforming it costs more energy than building alongside it. That's frontier expansion — even if it looks like retreat from inside the old system. "You can't just declare a new space for the mind. You need a real strategy for how to make the mind expand there... The cypherpunks saw this clearly, although they had a vibe of running away. I think expanding into that space is a much better frame." - Tamers of Entropy (Lisa talking about A Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace by John Perry Barlow)
