If you’ve ever thought to yourself:
“You know what? This 21 million Bitcoin thing - that’s super cool.”
Imagine: there will only ever be 21 million. Not one more.
I can get you more cheeseburgers if you’re hungry. I can give you more Rolexes if you insist. I’ll build you a hundred Ferraris and hand over a mountain of Gucci bags.
But more BTC? Sorry. You’re not getting it. Ever. Engineered, sound money.
Well, sick! Welcome to the Bitcoiners’ Arkham Asylum. I’m your host „Chief of Scarcity Department” and here’s one of our patients: @Peter Todd
He’s not technically a Bitcoin Core dev, but he does submit PRs from time to time. And funny thing - every time he does, it’s either to remove anti-spam limits (OP_return saga) or suggest we… raise the Bitcoin cap.
Insanity.
Insane that anyone inside Bitcoin would even entertain such ideas.
This is sacred ground. The entire foundation rests on the principle: 21 million and not one more. It cannot deflect! There is no debate around it, because if it fails, it is the end.
If you want to change that, you’re either highly regarded individual or a saboteur.
@Luke Dashjr @Bitcoin Mechanic @Matthew Kratter thank you for raising my awareness about it!

People say OP_RETURN is a small change. And yes — it is small… at the surface.
Leaning Tower of Pisa — at the ground level, the tilt is barely visible. But go a few floors up, and the deviation becomes massive.
Same with large ships: a 1-degree deviation in course seems harmless — until you realize you’re hundreds of miles off track days later.
In Bitcoin, seemingly small technical compromises — tend to grow into systemic problems over time. Taproot.
That’s why “small changes” deserve serious scrutiny. They often define the trajectory of the whole system.
Bitcoin L1 is a bedrock of future financial system it cannot deflect even an inch.
@Bitcoin Mechanic @Luke Dashjr @Matthew Kratter thank you for your input into the debate and please keep going.
