Technological optimism in current dark age.
You devote your time and energy to speak up and do activism. You might win, they will retract. Then push the same shit again with a different name and under different circumstances. You fight every time. They only need to win once. You are devoting your life to keep this shit from happening. The people trying to make this shit happen are literally being paid for this. With YOUR MONEY. > The following quote from former Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission sums up the way the EU seems to work quite nicely: > "We decide on something, leave it lying around and wait and see what happens. If no one kicks up a fuss, because most people don't understand what has been decided, we continue step by step until there is no turning back."[0]
Priorities are a powerful thing. Living in Polska for 3 years I can barely order a hotdog from Zabka but I also can pretty much understand the japanese panel speakers from NostrAsia raw, without subs.
IMO, yo should consider the investment would be the cost of at least an ECC compatible setup using unregistered ECC: - ECC compliant CPU. - ECCP compliant Motherboard, some do. Some don’t. - The ECC memory - Reduntant storage - The energy cost of running a full PC as opposed to an ARM SBC. Sadly those extra W/h are relevant if you live in shitholes like the EU. So if you are serious about running a lightning node by either putting more money than the aforementioned setup or going for the routing node runner game you should invest in ECC and prosumer grade hardware. HP Microservers are a good starting point. AFAIK even the unwanted versions support ECC. Any non APU Ryzen even first gen support ECC unregistered but motherboards are another story. Just playing with LN with hundred bucks channel? Nah… stick with your current Raspberry Pi or old PC. View quoted note →
Has anyone ever tried setting a personal matrix server with bridges to all other crappy messaging systems and just use element to interact?
