Last week, Telegram was threatened of being shut down by the Supreme Court, for sending a message alerting people of the impacts of a new legislation that aim to give the government power to block accounts and even arrest people over their opinions. The next day, Telegram sent an apologetic message: "We received an order from the Supreme Court of Brazil that binds Telegram to remove our previous message about PL 2630/2020 and to send a new message to users, which is included below. Hello!! I don't know if it's known to the internacional community that Brazil is, in effect, under a dictatorial regime. In paper, we are still a democracy. The Supreme Court has taken the power into their own hands, not only interpreting the construction, as is their row in a democratic state, but also creating laws, accusing, investigating and judging. Journalists, people speaking their minds on the internet and even representatives of Parliament have been persecuted and even arrested. I plan to bring awareness, to the English speaking community by bringing news other than the ones brought by international media. They tend to be biased towards dictators.
