Mothers carry a lot of weight on their shoulders (literally and figuratively). I'm navigating over a week of illness in my household. Two family members have flu A. I suspect my daughter had it last weekend with milder symptoms. I've been solo parenting for nearly a week. I don't think I have the cognitive ability to think of what to make for dinner tonight. Sigh. This too shall pass.

My bestfriend (of 20+ years) and I took our kids to an indoor museum/playground today (1 hour from home, solo parenting). I felt so free because I didn't let anxiety hold me back from having this experience. My kids were great. We had a blast. Everyone went home intact. 10/10 recommend fighting your fears and doing the fun things in life.

❄️ 🍪We had fun in the snow and baked cookies today. 🍪❄️ Little dude didn't have any waterproof shoes so I asked if anyone had some in our neighborhood Facebook group. A kind neighbor walked over and brought snow boots and a snow bib for him. I couldn't believe how kind he was! We decided to bake cookies for his family. 2025 is the year of hope. I'm hoping to see more kindness and neighborly gestures this year. ❤️ Fun fact: it snowed on this day 3 years ago. This year we're passing around the flu (or at least that's what I think it is), and in 2022 we had COVID. @OceanSlim

Snow twice in one month in GEORGIA? We only see snow once a decade (maybe) and it usually never sticks. Let's not forget about how we got hit with Hurricane Helene too. The debris piles with look nice blanketed in snow (note the sarcasm). Trump is president again. Elon isn't getting any brownie points. What a weird timeline to be in.

I noticed my reflection the other day while laughing with my children and saw crows feet and other wrinkles appear. I didn't shudder. I smiled because I know they're a badge of wisdom and courage. I don't talk about this with anyone really, but I don't dye my hair, get my nails done, have Botox or plastic surgery. I get my hair cut once a year. I paint my toe nails at home during the warm months. I don't wear make-up unless it's a fancy event (I can only really tolerate lipstick at this point). I say all this because it wasn't a conscious decision. It was financially driven at first, but then I just started to see how beautiful we are naturally and wanted to embrace that. Now, don't get me wrong, I have tattoos and I'm not opposed to more. Same with piercings. But each person has their thing, but embracing the natural aging process has become mine.

Reposting the homemade Hamburger Helper I made this past weekend. We'll have a taste test later this week. 👌🏼

Also, just wanted to brag about the Grinch appetizer I made for Christmas. 💚 I was inspired by and AI image and decided I could make a real one.

I tried something new today. I prepped 3 different Hamburger Helper recipes (lasagna, stroganoff, & cheeseburger macaroni). I can't say for certain whether it was cost effective or not, but I can say I know what ingredients are in my food. I plan to do the calculations tomorrow.
