🎃 October Week 1 Co-op 🎃 We kicked off October with our first math lesson - counting to 20! We read a story, counted using manipulatives with a partner, and played a fall themed board game! @OceanSlim
🪹🐦🪶 September Lil Waders 🪶🐦🪹 We enjoyed storytime, a scavenger hunt, a bird nest craft, a sensory bin, and leaf rubbing art. @OceanSlim
🧯🩺🚔 September Week 3 Co-op 🚔🩺🧯 We read a story about community helpers, played bingo, and played dress up with friends. @OceanSlim
🎮🕹️🎲 Curious Kids: Games of the Past 🎲🕹️🎮 Today we went to the museum and learned about games throughout history. We read a story, completed a scavenger hunt, & played many games (new and old). @OceanSlim
On Tuesday our co-op had their first field trip of the school year to the Augusta Canal Discovery center. It was so much fun and budget friendly. We had a guided boat tour on a replica Petersburg boat, puppet show, & scavenger hunt in the museum! That evening, we stopped by Chick-Fil-A for the touch a truck event. @OceanSlim
I was going to post about how my kids are living what I would consider rich as a child. My grandfather grew up in a house his daddy built with an outhouse, "warsh" tub on the back porch, and a stick with baking soda to brush his teeth. I grew up in a trailer with holes in the floor, no central heating or AC, and no hot water a lot of the time. But then I unexpectedly came across his watch tonight and I just can't put into words how blessed we are and how proud he would be if he were here. image
📚🌎 September week 2 co-op 🌎📚 I had the pleasure of teaching a lesson about geography. We read "Me on the Map" and completed a craft to learn about our planet, continent, country, state, and home. The kiddos took home a handwriting practice worksheet and continent identification worksheet. @OceanSlim
🪵🦞🍃 September science class 🍃🦞🪵 We learned all about wetlands plus a bird dropped a crayfish on the playground (with babies latched to her!) so we had the fun of saying goodbye and releasing her back to the swamp. @OceanSlim
Ready for our geography lesson for the homeschool co-op on Friday 🌎♥️ image
My homeschool co-op had its first official meet on 9/11. I'm not going to lie, I was a little nervous taking on this venture by myself. Once I stood in front of the kids to read a story, I knew I was doing the right thing. All the skills from teaching public school came back in an instant and I felt at home again. We are focusing on social studies for the month of September so I decided to teach a lesson about American symbols with a story, puppet craft, & name game. I know there will be bumps in the road as I continue to take on this adventure, but I am just so thankful for the families that are trusting me with their babies. The co-op couldn't exist without them. Hooray for year 2! @OceanSlim
My homeschool co-op had open house on Friday and it was a success! I can't wait to kick off another school year. 🎉 @OceanSlim
Tonight I realized the best part of not having a dad is sharing all your friends father figures. What a blessing.
