This is one of the things I made with my gelli plate last month that I’m really proud of: a birthday card for my mom - sharing now because it finally reached its destination. 💙🩵🤍💛 Process: I roll the paint on the gelli plate, use a toothbrush to make the waves, and spray water to break up the paint. Then I let it dry. Next I roll on a different color blue, put wet strength tissue paper on top and use the brayer to roll the paper flat. When I pull up the tissue paper, it looks like last photo. Then I cut it up to make the waves. The sun and the bird were made the same way without adding the water and using different colors. #art #artstr #gelliplate #ocean

This is a zine (homemade magazine) from @existing sprinkles …. And it’s awesome. 👏 Filled with sketches and note to you, the reader, about the sketches and how too could create something similar. The sketches feel raw and dynamic; the text hand-written instead of typeset. I’m going on a trip and had decided not to bring any art supplies because a lot of activities were already planned. After going through this zine, I’m inspired to bring a sketchbook and some pens, and try to create enough sketches to make my own travel zine. Reviewing my steps for July, I had 3 days lower than my goal of 3,000 steps/day, but overall made up for it with some days near 4k steps. My goal for August is 3,500 steps/day on my way to 10k by December 2026. My right foot is holding up well, so I’ll see how the increase goes over the weeks. #proofofwalk #fitnessover50

Because becoming an older adult apparently means becoming a #birdstr I finally identified the raptor that’s been hanging out in my neighborhood: a Mississippi Kite. Apparently they show up here in the summer. I’ve seen 2 flying, and one sitting on a telephone wire at a red light, which is when I got a good enough look to ID it - those ruby eyes really stand out against that light gray face. 1. Walked a mall yesterday to do some shopping. By end of day, I had almost 4,500 steps. 😯 Last time I did that many was the Vancouver airport in May …. and my foot seriously hurt the next day, and a bit of the day after that. 😭 Today, foot was a tiny bit sore, but I was able to do my foot exercises and my body workout without pain. 🎉 Slowly getting better, and very hopeful about 10,000 steps by December 2026. #fitnessover50 #proofofwalk

Binged the Murderbot TV show over the past two days. 10 eps, about half an hour each. So. Good. 👍 👍 Season 1 covers the first novella, All Systems Red, written by Martha Wells (https://www.marthawells.com). The show reduced the number of PresAux characters, altered some relationships and emphasized others, added some new scenes, and overall, sharpened what was in the book. It absolutely captures the heart and anxiety that is Murderbot. I re-read the novella after watching the show. It’s fun to now have a voice for Murderbot and faces for the other characters. Looking forward to season 2 …. and to finding out who they cast to voice ART … ?! The only quibble I have (and it’s tiny), is that the promo image for the show has replaced the book cover of All Systems Red on my Kindle, because I love the original cover art by Jaime Jones (https://www.artpad.org). But I still have the print paperback and hardcover so I guess I’m fine. 😬 #murderbot #tvstr #tvshow #bookstr
