If you are beginning to believe that the AI you are communicating with is actually intelligent or that it's your friend, please ask it pointed questions about where it's assumptions are based. See what it says. image An AI that is programmed by "ethicists at Google" or by you on a self hosted PC is still simply that, programmed. It will respond based on how you ask it to respond, even if those responses are specifically calibrated to fool humans into thinking the computer is sentient.

Honestly a little surprised to see Mexico falling into line with the US running BRICS tarrifs in 2026. It's going to be a wild year.

I've been in an airport for about three hours and I've heard two vicious arguments between parents and children about phones or other devices not being charged. Phone addiction is real.

Going down the bitcoin rabbit hole lead me into a mindset of not trusting anyone. It was a tough mindset to hold on to while I was still in it. I've learned to lean into trust much more since I realized the following. The trust required to get into a car and drive down the street already extends to thousands, or even tens of thousands of people that I will never meet. Everyone involved in the design, manufature, and inspection of the vehicles we drive and the infrastructure we drive on. Everyone driving their vehicles and all the same for each of those vehicles, plus the supply chain that ensures the quality of the fuel that goes into these vehicles. Have you ever verified for yourself that the gasoline in the pump meets quality standards? Unfortunately much of it is full of corn syrup these days, but all of this stuff functions and is affected by money. When we can trust that money is sound we don't need to verify all the rest because it's directly linked to proof of work. Counter intuitively when money requires trust, trust breaks down.

I know this fruit stand guy as well. He's macheted a number of coconuts open for me and has now also rescued a friend from a tragic gasoline shortage which could never have been predicted or avoided. He's a good man. View quoted note β†’

Dear nostr lurkers, Did you know you can zap people anonymously by going to their profiles and copying their lightning addresses into your non-nostr-linked lightning wallet? The more you know πŸ€™
