Random thought 🤔 The media frames everything as left vs right. But they know it’s a deception. All political discourse could be considered through the lens of freedom vs totalitarianism. Whenever there is a new narrative we must ask ourselves, does the resulting policy agenda further freedom or does it further totalitarianism and enslavement. If we did that the game would be up for the controllers as nobody is going to consciously enslave themselves. Which is why they must use deception. #plebchain #freedom #grownostr image

I feel like we Gen X’s have a massive responsibility to the younger generations. To get our shit together and be a decent example. As @HODL pointed out millennials may be the most psy oped generation. But then you consider Gen Z and the issues they are going through around gender identity etc. They have been hugely messed with psychologically and spiritually……and through the school system…..and it’s still going on. The jiu jitsu community get it I think. The ideology around the sport from the Gracie’s and other Brazilian families that spearheaded jiu jitsu in the west has a very healthy outlook. Striving to be better humans but also to help and lift each other up. They understand the importance of hard graft, of competition and of family. My kid got his grey belt today so I’m particularly reflective on this sport and its value to society. We’re gonna need a healthy perspective particularly in the UK where perhaps the worst types of people you can imagine are currently in government. And don’t get me wrong the previous lot were not very much different. We’ve been sold out to the globalists. I think Americans generally get it and the Brits are gradually waking up and having the same realisation. It’s a global shift in consciousness. But yeah it is up to us now to right the ship and set a course. #jiujitsu #plebchain #grownostr #bitcoin image

Some thoughts on the complementary benefits of Tai Chi practice with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 🤔 Full disclosure I’ve done Tai Chi for around 20 years but BJJ for only around 1 year. However the effects on my body and mental state have been fascinating since beginning BJJ and I now believe these practices are complementary rather than antagonistic. Let me explain. Tai Chi trains the human body in a particular way to develop power, skill and health. The Yang style in particular utilises the Yi Jin Jing (易筋經) which is an old method for transforming the body. Yi Jin Jing translates as ‘sinew changing classic’ and focuses on building ‘Qi’ to then in turn build incredibly strong muscle, fascia and tendons. It deeply connects the body through the fascia and develops ‘Jin lu’ or lines of power. I realise that’s a slightly esoteric explanation however bare with me. BJJ is more about the efficient use of leverage, angles and position when grappling on the ground. It builds an incredibly fit and robust body and a calm and calculating mental state which is forged under pressure through constant sparring and testing. My experience so far is that the Tai Chi body that I had developed was immediately useable in BJJ giving me a slight edge in terms of strength and robustness particularly against larger opponents and positions such as the mount or side control. However the greater technique of my more experienced training partners while rolling will often eventually win out and cause me to tap to the submission. I also quickly realised that I lacked cardiovascular fitness and my lower back was not as strong as I thought it was . I pulled a muscle within the first month and it took a few weeks to heal . My back now feels much stronger and my flexibility and manoeuvrability on the ground are much improved. It’s BJJ practice that must take credit for that. A concern I had was that due to the fact that both arts use different methods to generate power would my Tai Chi get worse as I started to build power for jiu jitsu? There is an endless debate between ‘internal’ methods and ‘external’ methods that some of you may be familiar with. However it seems there is no problem. In fact my tai chi form practice feels more connected since doing BJJ regularly. It feels like there is more ‘juice’ available and my body feels ‘fuller’. Time will tell. And the real test will come with regular bouts from standing where Tai Chi is naturally more at home. Looking forward to 2025 and seeing what training in these two great arts will bring. 🙏 #plebchain #jiujitsu #taichi #grownostr image

So what is Tai Chi ? 🤔 This is a tricky question because it means different things to different people. In practice it is a series of movements, form and exercises that transform the mind and body and act as a vehicle for martial arts and/or spiritual development. However nowadays some schools focus purely on its martial aspects where as others focus on the health, meditative and spiritual aspects which is my preference. The history of Tai Chi is not generally agreed upon however there are some common themes. The art is thought to date back to around the 12th century in China and a Taoist adept named Chang San Feng who developed martial forms mixed with internal alchemy practises to transform the mind, energy and spirit (Yi, Chi and Shen). There is also evidence that Tai Chi utilises a number of teachings named the Yi Jin Jing which were brought into China around 500 AD by the Indian Buddhist monk Bodhidharma. Later the art was developed by the Chen and Yang families who became famous in China for their fighting prowess. My opinion is that Tai Chi was not developed solely for fighting or self defence however it became used for this purpose by many due to the qualities that it builds into the practitioner such as strength, flexibility and a calm mind. Tai Chi can be practised according to the needs and goals of the practitioner. Some will focus on healing and health aspects, some will focus on the aesthetic beauty making the art more dance like and others will practise for self defence. Tai Chi is an absolutely vast art with deeper and deeper levels to explore. There are generally no belts to earn or ranks to achieve however there are many skills to develop and the health benefits alone keep most interested for many years. The internal energy aspects are particularly prominent in Tai Chi . Through the cultivation of one’s energy or ‘chi’ it is possible to increase the function of the internal organs improving health and vitality. Martially speaking the body becomes more robust to falls, strikes and injury. Two mental aspects that Tai Chi cultivates are ‘sung’ (release or letting go) and ‘ting’ (listening skill) as one progressively learns to absorb their awareness deeper into the body. This aspect of the art can be deepened through seated meditation practice or standing nei gong postures. 🌅🙏 image

Human law is law only by virtue of its accordance with right reason; and thus, it is manifest that it flows from the eternal law. And in so far as it deviates from right reason it is called an unjust law; in such case it is no law at all, but rather a species of violence. Thomas Aquinas #plebchain #naturallaw
