When flying, I close my laptop as drinks are served just in case there is a spill. Today a Bloody Mary splashed on my laptop. Easy to wipe off the lid of the computer and smile at the flight attendant that it's "all good, accidents happen", instead of being frustrated with a dead laptop and dealing with how to get the airline to possibly make me whole. Small acts of preparation can go a long way to making life smoother.

Nostr makes free speech anti-fragile.
Twitter is full of people praising Elon for keeping free speech alive. I think the accolades are deserved, however if one man can save it, one man can take it away.

My favorite feature on the AirPods Max is the auto-off feature. It doubles as an auto-on, which means when you take them out of your backpack, the battery is dead.
Apple's "solution" for this is to use the carrying case, which is cumbersome and creates more physical waste than just allowing us to press one of the already existing buttons on the device to turn it on and off ourselves.
Spent the day in San Francisco. Much cleaner than my last visit. They must be making an effort to improve it.
The hardest part of making a mobile app for your web service is feature parity. For any large scale web offering, it’s near impossible. Talk to your users, observe them in their work environment, and prioritize the features that are uniquely valuable on mobile.
For the rest, make sure your web app isn’t broken on mobile web and punt to that.
At our high school swim meet on UT campus this morning. There were technical difficulties with audio for the national anthem, so the crowd broke out in song together. There is an incredible energy with thousands of strangers from different backgrounds, political leanings, and economics all standing and singing in unison about the common goal of American values. 🤘 🇺🇸
There are difficult times happening, but let’s be bullish on humanity. 🫂
Work from home days: lunch is a ribeye with butter eaten outside in the sun.

In 2023, more than 350 million people had their data exposed in data breaches. That number is already higher in 2024. On average a company incurred a cost ~ $5 million to deal with the incident.

My wife was asking a question in ChatGPT and it rattled off our kid’s name/age as part of the response. She’s officially creeped out.
We’re working on ways to bring the concepts of self-custody to AI and all the other apps you use on a daily basis. Stoked.
Read this note if you’ve had your personal data exposed in a hack this year.

Could I run a single Bitaxe in a non-ventilated linen closet? What’s the worst that could happen, it stops running because of heat? #mining #asknostr
My son, take this musket and never disgrace it; for remember, I had rather all my sons should fill one honorable grave, than that one of them should turn his back to save his life. Go, and remember, too, that while the door of my cottage is open to brave men, it is eternally shut against cowards.
