Good morning nostr, the rain started last night, which sounded good to us since we're in drought. Freezing will start this evening though. Today i'll be cooking some roast and some meatloaf, just to have something prepared in case of power outage. Maybe boil some eggs too. As far outdoor stuff, we need to check on all the critters, but i think we'll stay busy with indoor stuff for a few days. Ok, i guess we're as ready as we can be for the icy weekend coming in. All faucets are covered, we have extra food/water on hand, critters have lots of hay, and we have lots of firewood on hand. At the cabin we just shut off the water supply since our guests checked out already. Just have to remember to drip the indoor faucets tomorrow nite. #TexasWeather

Hey nostr, its been a dreary, overcast day, and i'm not looking forward to Saturday's weather. Sunday's church service has been cancelled due to expected icy conditions. I think we'll just hunker down and stay near the woodstove all weekend, maybe make a big pot of stew. My chickens are laying lots of eggs now, i love it. I even took several cartons to church last weekend, and they were snagged quickly. Lucy loves to have a raw egg with her food too, so everybody's happy with the abundance. Good night nostr, today we had cabin guests check in, and they'll be staying a couple nights. They are regulars, and when i told them i'll be shutting down my airbnb, they asked if i might consider still letting them stay when they come to our town. They come to shop at Round Top, then resell at their Dallas store. I said i would consider it. As far as homestead stuff, we mostly checked everything and filled up a few buckets with water, in case our pipes freeze up. Anyway, yall have a good evening friends. #homesteading
