Are there other exchanges doing this? Xapo charges a fee for deposits of less than 0.0007 BTC (~$36). That's reasonable considering how expensive it is for them to consolidate those UTinyXOs.

Do you agree with @Luke Dashjr that APIs to submit out-of-band transactions directly to pools are an attack? If yes, you have 2 options: 1. Run Libre Relay to propagate non-std txs and render Marathon's Slipstream obsolete. 2. Try to change consensus. Complaining will only expose your lack of understanding of the incentives at play.

Bitcoin is NOT for everyone. It's only for those who can afford on-chain fees.

Many criticize @David Marcus' decision to promote UMA instead of "an off-the-shelf LNURL implementation with an LUD-18-based compliance and LUD-21". I think it’s perfectly logical. Lightspark is targeting VASPs that want to provide a cheap, compliant and instant FX solution to their users. Those institutions don't care if what's under the hood is LNURL or something else. If they cared, they'd have implemented LNURL already — the building blocks have been around for years.

The biggest threat that will attract regulatory scrutiny to Bitcoin isn't covenants, Taproot Assets, Lightspark's UMA, or any of Bitcoin Twitter's villain of the week. It's adoption. More bitcoiners, more regulators' eyeballs. 🤷‍♂️

I've just found out @David Marcus is on Nubank's board. Onboarding 90M+ Latin Americans to Lightspark's UMA would be neat! 👌 Nubank's remittances offering is weak, they already sell bitcoin via Paxos, and Revolut is investing heavily in Brazil 🇧🇷, so the pieces are falling into place! 🤞

What if we recycled the dollar sign as the sats symbol? ♻️ #Bitcoin will replace fiat currencies, leaving $ up for grabs. No need to buy new keyboards. But $ represents the opposite of our values. Wouldn't it be more symbolic to trash both fiat and $? 🗑️

regulated exchanges have an easier time implementing Lightning withdrawals than deposits because sender privacy is pristine, unlike receiver privacy. i wonder if blinded paths/bolt12 will make it harder for exchanges to integrate Lightning withdrawals 🤔
