hey @Egge, I'm loving my mattcrv@npub.cash, congrats!
is there a way I could set up to receive the ecash notes via DM? Or at least get notified via DM when there are notes to be claimed?

chronicling the products layered upon the bitcoin protocol. dying on the crypto(graphy)-abolitionism hill.
Here's an unboxing of @npub1tcnv...ctu0, the wallet built by @jack's team at Block:
Are there other exchanges doing this?
Xapo
charges a fee for deposits of less than 0.0007 BTC (~$36).
That's reasonable considering how expensive it is for them to consolidate those UTinyXOs.

If yes, you have 2 options:
1. Run Libre Relay to propagate non-std txs and render Marathon's Slipstream obsolete.
2. Try to change consensus.
Complaining will only expose your lack of understanding of the incentives at play.
Bitcoin is NOT for everyone.
It's only for those who can afford on-chain fees.
Many criticize @David Marcus' decision to promote UMA instead of "an off-the-shelf
LNURL implementation with an LUD-18-based compliance and LUD-21".
I think itβs perfectly logical.
Lightspark is targeting VASPs that want to provide a cheap, compliant and instant FX solution to their users.
Those institutions don't care if what's under the hood is LNURL or something else.
If they cared, they'd have implemented LNURL already β the building blocks have been around for years.
dang, @strike has some fierce competition for ranking in the app stores

The biggest threat that will attract regulatory scrutiny to Bitcoin isn't covenants, Taproot Assets, Lightspark's UMA, or any of Bitcoin Twitter's villain of the week. It's adoption. More bitcoiners, more regulators' eyeballs. π€·ββοΈ
I've just found out @David Marcus is on Nubank's board. Onboarding 90M+ Latin Americans to Lightspark's UMA would be neat! π
Nubank's remittances offering is weak, they already sell bitcoin via Paxos, and Revolut is investing heavily in Brazil π§π·, so the pieces are falling into place! π€
What if we recycled the dollar sign as the sats symbol? β»οΈ
#Bitcoin will replace fiat currencies, leaving $ up for grabs.
No need to buy new keyboards.
But $ represents the opposite of our values. Wouldn't it be more symbolic to trash both fiat and $? ποΈ

it was an honor to host this panel at Satsconf featuring @calle , @EVAN KALOUDIS and Nickolas!
timely convo on custodial vs self-custodial wallets/solutions:
Many sats symbol ideas faded in and out throughout the years, none reaching full consensus. In this post, we'll go on an archeological journey to uncover most past symbol ideas: https://blog.bitkit.to/the-quest-for-the-ultimate-sats-symbol-a-post-mortem-ba7d6c56a513
We have a surprise announcement! π
For #Bitcoin to be adopted globally, it needs to be as user-friendly as possible β even when it comes to seemingly minor details.
And there's one detail we've been missing for years: a unique and recognizable symbol for sats.
Reaching consensus on a new symbol is hard, but it's worth the effort.
A sats symbol has the potential to transcend language barriers, akin to $, Β₯, β¬, or Β£.
So we decided to embark on this quest.

it's fascinating to watch the growing awareness of the "zero interest rate phenomenon". i hear about it in every non-#bitcoin tech circle nowadays
now that the concept of malinvestments is mainstream, i wonder how close people are to grasping what fixes this... β³
regulated exchanges have an easier time implementing Lightning withdrawals than deposits because sender privacy is pristine, unlike receiver privacy.
i wonder if blinded paths/bolt12 will make it harder for exchanges to integrate Lightning withdrawals π€
awesome to see @David Marcus's Lightspark contributing back to the community
it'd be easier for them to stay in their lane after the backlash they've received, glad they didn't
hope their fresh perspective will be valuable π€

congrats to the brazilian Hashdex team π§π· for making it into the selected 11 and all, but seriously... $DEFI gotta be the worst possible ticker for a BTC ETF. DeFi is the antithesis of everything #bitcoin stands for.
