I live on 14.5 acres in Amish country in Ohio. I have raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits & sheep. I’ve planted cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, mulberries, paw paws, apples, pears & nectarines. I garden (badly) but I am learning more every year. I work remotely for a bank as a mortgage underwriter- fingers crossed I am still doing that when you read this.
I hunt on my land - have gotten 5 deer since I moved out here. Into everything homesteading.
Morning Nostriches!
Todays garden pic is back to the favorite! I was on vaca last week & pulled 4 monsters of these out of the garden, we had the baba ghanoush & eggplant Parmesan, it was a week of glorious feasts!

Is marigolds! They’re not actually in the garden, I put them in cinder blocks next to the garden, but they’re in the general garden area.

Morning Nostriches!
Today’s garden pic is beans! They’re looking very tasty! Have these guys in a few beds so this isn’t the whole haul. My pole beans are not looking good.

Morning Nostriches
Today is my birthday & going to the #homesteading festival to listen to John Kempf who is local to me. Looks like this years lineup also includes Daniel Salatin among others
What a fantastic birthday this is!!!
Morning Nostriches!
Todays garden pic is that ever growing sunflower! Dudes turning into a monster. I don’t think it’s in focus, but the background is my hay field, it’s drying out now, they’ll bale it later today.

Morning Nostriches!
Today’s garden pic is the bed as a whole. I’ve got red peppers, basil, nasturtium, eggplant & there’s a few bush beans that haven’t come up yet.

Morning Nostriches!
Todays garden pic is red Russian kale. This is a volunteer & it’s a monster! I’m cutting into it for breakfast. Trying to free up some space for a pepper it’s crowding.
