I'm not particularly a fan of the new genre of YouTube which is an otherwise real person reading/researching stuff they asked AI about

Working on getting a promotion in the fiat mines. If I don't, I'm going to coast 1 more year so my retirement account can vest and then cash out while finding a different job.
Long term goal of starting up a business (either tech related or preferably creative). However, you need some intense start-up capital to achieve this. I did my years of being poor and idealistic; I'd rather take this one step at a time now.
The more I think about it, nostr:nprofile1qqsgydql3q4ka27d9wnlrmus4tvkrnc8ftc4h8h5fgyln54gl0a7dgspp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpzemhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuurjd9kkzmpwdejhgqg4waehxw309aex2mrp0yhx6mmnw3ezuur4vgkhjsen has a point with the Bits/Bitcoins/Sats argument. The unit bias scares off a lot of vulnerable people who would otherwise most need Bitcoin. It keeps things abstract, distant, and unobtainable. It obfuscates the fractional nature of Bitcoin and its use as money even for the smallest of purchases.
I've been so busy lately it's been impossible for me to write and nearly impossible to read. It's been a good kind of busy, but I hope things calm down soon.
As much fun as NGU is, I find the conversations much more interesting when the number goes down.
#Microsoft putting "Ask #Copilot" above "Copy" when you right click in #Outlook has me feeling a certain kind of way
Email is not fit for purpose anymore. It wasn't designed with this scale in mind, and the patchwork fixes required to make it functional en masse caused it to become centralized. To get into someone's inbox you have to proceed through a matrix of gatekeepers and security checks. Plus, people are exhausted from email slop now anyways. Web of trust, mute lists, and Nostr clients that filter to your preference will be much better.

nostr:npub1cn4t4cd78nm900qc2hhqte5aa8c9njm6qkfzw95tszufwcwtcnsq7g3vle talks a lot about a coming age where artists and creative, imaginative people are empowered by functional money and innovation. I'm not convinced that will happen, but it would be nice. In his latest livestream he said he might do a keynote speech on this topic. I would be interested to listen to that.
What sent me down this technological and financial rabbit hole was seeing how broken the art/publishing world was. I see creative people being crushed into dust and their energy being drained by corporate overlords, especially when it comes to copyright/intellectual property controls. If Bitcoin can fix the money and Nostr can fix online distribution, this would be a massive step towards realizing Jack's prediction.
This reads like something out of The Twilight Zone

Hey, this is pretty neat. I didn't know private mutes had compatibility problems across clients. I used your tool to make the 4 spammers I have muted public instead. Thanks!

Something that has always bothered me is how quickly art is forgotten. It was a big inspiration for my WIP novel, the fear of forgetting.
It took me a while to get the hang of this, but I actually really like Nostr.
I was reflecting this morning about how I first heard about Bitcoin in 2014 via some #gaming news (hackers installed a BTC miner on a Far Cry 4 server IIRC). It took me over 10 years before I finally bought some. For the longest time I hated Bitcoin because it drove up the prices on my gaming PC parts. I didn't understand the tech or my need for it, but in a weird way the overpriced parts slowly pushed me away from gaming addiction and toward #FOSS. Without spending years studying/using #opensource software (and being really poor) I never would have found the "need" for BTC. I have the need now for sure.
Hopefully I can get in earlier on the Nostr goldrush!
I used the built-in AI chatbot in an app and it actually answered my question
If I can get everything setup to sell my books for Bitcoin, I'd like to sell signed copies where I write my name in orange ink ðâ
The #CreativeCommons has been a tremendous fascination of mine for years. I think within this framework is the perfect balance of private ownership and public service when it comes to #copyright and intellectual property. The existing laws didn't make sense before the internet, and the internet has only further cracked a flawed foundation. Sam Altman and his "Open" AI have finally shattered what little credibility was left in the existing legal system around plagiarism.

I think within 1 generation most Hollywood movies will be completely incomprehensible to most people.
