After the morning grain run in the rain I eventually got the grain spread in the garden yesterday. It will get tilled in when it's dried likely mid week sometime. In the evening we witnessed an INCREDIBLE #sunset. The colors were so intense and bright and changed constantly. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog

I got the last of the red potatoes dug yesterday which puts me right at 1000 pounds of spuds so far this year, and I still have rows of yellow to dig. The truck refuses to start and I'm lucky my hair is so short or else I would be pulling it out by the fistful in frustration. Not one single code has been thrown as even a hint of the problem... #homesteading #farming #diy #hive #peakd #dailyblog

It went back together okay but then it refuses to idle. I got it to start and the bang of the piston on the head is gone but then it dies. Really hoping I don't have to take it apart again and that it'll be something easier... Swapping out the exhaust manifold bolts today in hopes that helps... The timing should be right as this is the 4th time I have done it with this engine now... MOTHER FUCKER!!!! #diy #homesteading #mechanics #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Holy shit I am doing this! The engine is back in the truck, no bolts to the frame or bell housing but it's in there. Managed to get it done by myself with a lot of kicking, pushing, and finagling. I am rather hopefull that I will be starting it up sometime today... #homesteading #diy #mechanics #hive #peakd #dailyblog

I got the harvests done before noon yesterday and the potatoes are kicking ass! Huge and amazing looking. 46.5 pounds from just 8 feet... The truck engine rebuild is in full swing and the crank, rods, and pistons are all back in and moving easily. Heads went on and today I will try to drop the thing back into the truck... Very very carefully!!! #homesteading #mechanics #diy #hive #peakd #dailyblog

I have now begun putting the truck's engine back together. This is a big step for me and I have a ways to go but there is a dot of light at the end of the tunnel. I'm pretty sure I have all the parts I need, the gaskets, and the sealants so now I just have to keep at it. I'm going to need one of my friends to help when I go to put the motor back in though as that IS a 2 person job. #homesteading #mechanics #diy #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Aside from the 126 pounds of potatoes I dug, washed, and bagged yesterday I figured out what the grinding sound was on the car. After putting the front wheel back together I moved to the right rear and WOW did I find the problem. 1 pad was to metal, the inner, while the outer was WAY uneven. Seems the pin was corroded so the brakes wore WAY wrong. Quick trip to Autozone and the car is back going again. Now to get back to my truck engine... #homesteading #gardening #farming #mechanics #hive #peakd #dailyblog

I really like these bags for the potatoes, I have them in 10, 15, and 50 lb sizes now along with the 5 lbs in the net bags. This will allow for much better air circulation and I'm hoping that by storing them in the studio they won't be so fast to try putting off growth. The basement of the house has soil exposed in part which allows a lot of humidity and caused the spuds to explode in growth over winter. #homesteading #farming #gardening #mechanics #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Crazy busy day yesterday. 2 appointments in the morning, lunch out, then the drive to Idaho to pickup the parts for my truck that got done SUPER FAST! Week and a half to 2 weeks my ass! Mike kicked ass and got my parts done, and they look gorgeous. Now the fun of putting the engine back together begins... #homesteading #farming #gardening #mechanics #3dprinting #hive #peakd #dilyblog

I've dug over 500 pounds of potatoes from the gardens so far and am about a 1/3 of the way through the rows. I did kinda screw up by planting the marigolds WITH the potatoes since I have to dig them up to get to the spuds below... Landscaping work which was nice to be doing again as it's been years since I've had any to do for others, it's just been for us on the farm. Have a number of tasks to get to this summer and am looking forward to it. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Lots done in the garden yesterday as the rain ended up largely staying away, unfortunately. It took until the evening for it to hit. I finally made a loaf of bread since it was a lot cooler all day long, and of course the loaf is already half gone... Need the chickens to pop out more eggs so I can make more bread, takes 2 per loaf. We got a nice downpour as we went to bed which made for a much nicer and cooler night. #homesteading #foodstr #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Bunch of cabbage picked yesterday but I had to cut out lots of shit thanks to the bugs, still got about 30 pounds though. The mesh bags for the potatoes work great but the real bags will be here today. The biggestbarn spider I have seen so far is living on the gate by the shed and she is quite prickly looking. It always amazes me the incredible variety of coloring and form of the barn spiders. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog

The crank and rods are at the machine shop for turning and hopefully within a couple weeks I will have them back and can get my truck back together. Went for a hike and fly on the way home and got a solid little flight in. I finished digging the one side of the yellow potato garden, the smaller side, and ended up with over 2lbs per foot of row. More bags will be here soon so I can make up less than 50lb bags... #homesteading #farming #gardening #paragliding #food #hive #peakd #dailyblog

We get some rather large slugs growing around the farm, this Leopard #slug was over 4 inches long as it oozed across the garden plastic. It ended up getting a free flight over the fence and into the plum trees where the chickens could maybe find it. They are not huge fans of slugs though as I've lobbed the gooey things at them before and they sometimes attack. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Got the garlic garden tilled so the grain is incorporated now and can begin breaking down. Lots more potatoes pulled from the ground and oodles more to go. The bags will be a MASSIVE help today so I can sort the spuds to sizes. Pretty stoked on the M5Stack Cardputer and am anxious to play with it some more. #homesteading #gardening #farming #hive #peakd #dailyblog

Just got this today. Quite an interesting little unit and I have a few ideas about trying to connect mesh/lora rigs to it. Of course I got this one right before the next version comes out but hey, the boys can work with this one and try some signals acquisition/jamming/spofing. Gotta start em young if we want to make sure we have John Connors ready to go when the time comes. #m5stack #cardputer #terminator #newtoy #prepping image

Wow, what a difference that change made!!! Damn is this browser SO MUCH faster. #Waterfox is a 3rd party version of Firefox and I can't be happier. Firefox had become a slow pig and a MASSIVE hog of RAM. Fucking thing got up to 4gb at times and totally bogged down my system. Waterfox is like jumping into a top fuel dragster after driving to the track in a model A. #fuckmozilla #bloatware #changeisgood

Tis the season for spud digging! Hauled over 100 pounds out of the ground yesterday which came out of about 50 feet of row space, or about 2lbs per foot. Both the red and yellow are producing very nicely so far and I have not found many gopher tracks which bodes well for the rest of the digging. #homesteading #farming #gardening #hive #peakd #dailyblog
