If I'm watching a movie... there's a 15% chance I'm commenting and engaged, but more likely, I will periodically look up from phone when there's a rise in action at which point I will ask, "OK, who's that again and why are they doing that...? Oh, OK," before diving back into one of the 100 internet tabs I have open. Also peppered with me pausing it, so I can tell you about a loosely tangential side quest I'm reminded of. If this is wrong.
