GM! I’m doing an apprenticeship at a local processing center so I can add meat cutting to my skill set. A different apprentice took some initiative and split open a cow. He did not take precautions to avoid the intestinal track. Have you ever heard a five minute long fart? Have you ever been sprayed with the insides of a cow? I have..now. Some of it got in my mouth! Laughed so hard! Situations like this teach us that one can get angry and yell or take the opportunity to teach and laugh it off. Please use this note as a reminder to laugh and teach not yell and preach. PV everyone 😀 #gm #coffeechain #homesteading #farmlife #countrylife #permies #grownostr
While all the excitement was going on I was doing my evening feed and watering chores. I dumped a load of rabbit manure on the strawberries and spent twenty minutes watching the chickens scratch and peck. Eating fly larvae, working nutrients into the soil. What is important in your life? News, politics and other things you can’t control? Stress and reward trigger manipulation controlled by algorithms? OR Your personal environment, the food you eat and control of your own mental and physical health? Have a peaceful evening. #permies #homestead #grownostr #countryliving
Please help me find the name of a children’s book. I’m trying to remember the name of a book my 2nd grade teacher read to the class in the 1980’s. It was about a boy who traveled to a future where everyone was required to carry a “pocket puter” (short for pocket computer.) The main character was almost immediately arrested upon arrival in the future for not having a pocket puter to identify himself when stopped by police. The other thing I remember was that a friend of the main character enjoyed fishing. However people either weren’t allowed to catch real fish or fish had gone extinct. I don’t remember which. He would take a rowboat out and dangle his line in the water to “catch” a tag that told him how big his “fish” was. It’s not much to go on but if anyone knows the name of this book I would greatly appreciate the answer. #asknostr #grownostr
My chicks are hatching! This is my first time using an incubator. 11 of 20 have hatched so far. Several of the unhatched eggs are piped. I’m so excited 😆 #chickens #homesteading #permies #grownostr
