@npub1n3sj...te5l and Kyle Schneps trace how a single non-peer-reviewed claim became the sole source cited in a letter from 70 environmental organizations to Congress. That letter triggered congressional hearings, a Biden administration executive order, and an official government report, with no one along the way checking whether the original claim was correct or not. A clip from DIRTY COIN The Bitcoin Mining Documentary. ⬇️

@npub1n3sj...te5l explains something most people don’t know about landfills: they leak methane constantly, and methane traps heat far more effectively than CO2. Bitcoin miners have started showing up at those sites. Capture the gas, burn it in generators, use the electricity to mine. The methane was venting either way. Now there’s a buyer for it. This is the part of the energy story that rarely makes the coverage, and it’s why we put it in the film.

Power grids are constantly shopping for the cheapest fuel in fractions of a second, but there's a gap on the demand side. Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) breaks down how Bitcoin mining absorbs excess, low-cost electricity and helps make U.S. energy demand more efficient and sustainable over time.
