With nodeless shutting down, #damus working on free translations, and translate.nostr.wine now in damus as a translation option, NoKYCTranslation registration (getting a new API key and adding sats) will be shutting down soon. Those still using our service will have until the end of year to keep using the translator, which will shut down December 31, 2023. We highly recommend trying translate.nostr.wine for damus users. Nodeless was wonderful for lightning payments, especially when we didn’t get enough recurring payments to make running our own lightning node worth it. Thank you to @utxo the webmaster 🧑‍💻 for running such a great service. We are still committed to Nostr and the devs behind NoKYCTranslate have other projects in the works :)

Signing up or adding sats should be working as before, except you'll get a nodeless.io checkout link instead of a BTCPayServer checkout link. We're updating our registration page today at https://nokyctranslate.com. There may be some temporary issues registering new API keys or adding sats to existing API keys. Our translator service will be unaffected, so if you already have an API key, your notes should still be translated without interruption. Please reach out if you have any questions or issues!

We’re working on a ‘settings’ page to give you more fine grained control over your translations. Are these features you’d use? Do you have other features you’d like to see? Let us know and we’ll add sats to your API Key! Currently planned features: - Set a character limit on translations to prevent translating long notes when using auto translate - Add ‘known languages’ that will never be translated (for those of you who speak multiple languages) - Choose between different AI models (we’ll be adding GPT based models soon among others)

Big update: we now filter out many types of data that are not natural language! This optimization means translating notes with links will be 2-10x cheaper. Right now we are filtering:
- hyperlinks - nostr:… links, like npubs, notes, etc - relay links - cashu links (worst offenders, nuts are surprisingly big…. links 😂 ) Auto translate is safer to use now! Is there a data type we’re missing? Let us know and we’ll filter that too. Also, we’ve credited everyone’s existing API keys +1000 sats as a thank you for bearing with us while we continue to improve! Smaller updates: - Our bot will now send you a DM when your balance runs out, if you provided your npub. You only need to provide your npub once, so don’t have to provide it again when adding more sats to your API Key

The cost of 0.1 sats per character ONLY applies to the input text, not the output text. So the length of the original note determines the cost regardless of the length of the output text.

Our translation service is now available for use without the need for identity verification (KYC). To use our service with Damus, simply obtain your public key from our website, nokyctranslate.com. PSA - When your API Key runs out of sats, your notes will stop translating, however you won't get any direct notification. Working on a bot that will auto send you a note when this happens! Currently you can go check your balance on the website to see if you're low on sats.
