“The fundamental building block of society is not the individual but the family.”
“When the freedom to be creative becomes the freedom to create oneself, then necessarily the Maker himself is denied and ultimately man too is stripped of his dignity as a creature of God, as the image of God at the core of his being. The defence of the family is about man himself. And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears. Whoever defends God is defending man.”

A point missed in the e-cash vs. custodial lightning debate is that a business running a custodial lightning service depends on the state for its existence. States “incorporate” businesses; they form them under their rule.
An individual exists before the state. An individual is part of a family, community, and body politic, which make up the state.
Individuals have a reputation to uphold. Companies live and die by the dictates of the state. Which one would you rather hold your money?
