Think we will discover eventually that all conceptions are only maps of reality, not the territory. Like all of history, cosmology, science, theology are just maps. That it’s all a leap of faith. This might be the meaning of the Tree Of Knowledge parable.

Reading this book about the philiosophy of math, and he’s talking about the number 3 like it’s not obvious what it is. What do you mean by “3”? The sets of all things of which there are “3” elements? That’s kind of redundant. So he’s trying to build an understanding of “3” from first principles, and I don’t understand what he’s talking about specifically. But I get the gist.
Was walking @Oscar Liss yesterday, had the realization I was walking an animal, a different species, on leash in public. Like WTF?
Sometimes you get habituated to ordinary reality so much you don’t notice it anymore.
Instead of AGI, think we’ll soon discover the upper limits of AI and find it wanting. Wrote a short story about it a couple years ago:

Problem with Twitters’s new algo is it gives you *too much* of what it thinks you want. You watch a couple of preseason NFL clips, and my whole feed is NFL click bait accounts posting clips.
The problem with algos is they are always going to be stupid and predicated on the past. Same reason Spotify can't compete with a good human DJ. The experience always leaves you wanting because it's trying to fit the future into the past. At some point, you find music that is new and different from your prior taste. Giving people what they know has a limit.
This also is why AI will only take us so far. It operates only be rearranging the known, has no way to connect with the unknown.
You’re just following the wrong people

Walked by this, decided not to go in.

Don't fear the central banking cartels. They would do everything and anything to hold onto power, but you are the predator, not the prey.

One thing I don't understand about gender dysphoria is why it always goes in one direction. Like if you’re male, and your body doesn’t meet your self-conception, why must it always be that you need to be female? Why couldn’t a man be like, “Damn, I’m just way too male for this body, I need a second penis, maybe an extra set of testicles, some mega-doses of roids?” Show up for the surgery, like LFG.
Feel bad taking hard-earned sats from these dudes, but had to be done for the sake of the protocol.
@stacker_sports @Stacker News model -- peer to peer sats for sports and fantasy sports content -- is the future though. If I were starting a serious fantasy sports company (might still do so at some point) I'd 100 percent have a presence there. Will post a link to the write-up of the draft later today on @realmansports.
Walked into the sauna (86 celsius), two women were in it. Stayed 15 minutes, they left after 10. Went to the cold plunge pool for 3 minutes, then back in the sauna. About 5 minutes later, women come back, I'm in the same spot. We sit together 10 minutes, before they leave. I'm thinking they don't know I left to cool down. To them, I've been in for at least 33 minutes at 86, must have seemed like a God.

Best parents: create conditions for kids to make errors without catastrophic consequences.
Next best: checked out parents who provide insufficient guardrails.
Worst: parents who endeavor to prevent all errors.
Diet is less important than mindset. Person with the right mindset will end up with an adequate diet. Person with a good diet might not end up with the right mindset.
Everything is downstream from mind. People obsess over diet because it's much easier.
Cell battery is dying, you will be spared from at least five more shitposts. Gonna have to break out the Sudoku.
Plane delayed an hour because some dude got belligerent, had to be tackled as he was boarding, and we missed our runway slot.
Giving billion-dollar ideas for free to you lettuce-hands bitches and crickets.

Idea for air travel:
Build platforms in front of every gate like they have for trains or rollercoasters.
Plane pulls into the U-shaped dock/platform, opens on both sides like a Delorean, people with seats on the far side walk around the U to board at their row.
Every row boards at once. When finished “doors” clasp shut.
Figure it saves 10-20 minutes per flight for every traveler in perpetuity, vastly outweighing the cost of the platforms and re-design of the planes.
Had the idea maybe scientific advancements are not so much discoveries of how the world works but new possibilities conjured from the void.
