Building: Satlantis.io Wrote: UnCommunist & Bushido Of Bitcoin
The last six months have been full of learnings. This most recent essay builds on the last one I wrote (As Nostr as Possible), but focuses specifically on some ‘sacred cows’ in the space whose time for slaying may have arrived. You’ll see very quickly that I’m not shitting on Nostr (far from it). This is about a different perspective and relationship to the protocol. I hope this kicks off a few discussions.
Latest @Satlantis: Social Events build just dropped on TestFlight. Still a little clunky, but it’s come along very nicely. Merchant profiles are looking 👌 Next release will tie a lot of this together and we’ll make the test flight available publicly! Stay tuned
New events page. Blending people and places with the event itself. Also in the works. Incorporating a lot of the feedback we got from the initial events prototype.
We’ve been working hard on designing a wayyyyy more personalised onboarding flow at Satlantis. Something that is both Nostr and normie-friendly. Also something that can help with suggesting relevant content, accounts, events and merchants. This is in line with our approach of building *with* Nostr, not *on* Nostr. This is still a prototype, so the content is off, and some of the steps need polish. But I’m really looking forward to rolling this out.
Think I’m going to turn this account into a building in public account. I’ve never really been good at sharing things as I go, because I’m more of an introvert and generally like to work through things in private or with a small group of people. Sure I can get on stage and give a talk or shill what I’m doing on a pod or network at an event - but that’s all very draining for me. I’m also overly critical of my own work (whether that’s mine directly or the product of the team I’m working with). I’m a perfectionist at heart, so don’t like to share early. That all being said - we’ve learned sooooo much in the last year, especially in the last 5/6 months. We’ll be rolling a first actual public beta of @Satlantis: Social Events out in April. It’s the first time I’ve had enough confidence to do so with this product. We are really trying to do something different. I don’t just want want to build a Twitter or Instagram clown with Zaps on Nostr. I want to create a whole new CATEGORY of product It’s been a journey.
Optimism is a performance-enhancing drug that's both legal and free. While experts predicted failure, Sam Walton opened discount stores in small towns. When critics said 'too risky,' FedEx launched overnight delivery. While pessimists write reports, optimists write history. - Shane Parrish
