Nosotros is a great client but can it STOP editing people's bios without telling them. I'm not just talking about the tag which tells everyone you're using Nosotros but also the way they changed my lightning address from curious@liberal.dev to the address that points to; which is still mine but please leave my bio alone!!!

Please watch! This beautiful platform launches on October 14th and will allow us to preserve what would have been forgotten or lost. Some mutual friends of mine have built this and would appreciate you checking them out. You can checkout more about the project here: There's also a free launch event you can attend in Camden, London if you're around: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/theatrotechnis1/1887388

Warning Vibe Nostr clients!! So I've been writing a paper (if you can call it that) on fixing Nostr from a security perspective. I've only spent a few hours on it so far, turns out getting the citations, doing code analysis, mathematics, cryptography etc takes longer than I expected. Unfortunately the web-client I like to use, iris, is a piece of AI slop. Consequently I will be moving. Any suggestions? image Check out CLAUDE.md file here. It points to a DEVELOPMENT.md file that I'll also link below: CLAUDE.MD: https://github.com/irislib/iris-client/blob/main/CLAUDE.md DEVELOPMENT.MD: https://github.com/irislib/iris-client/blob/main/DEVELOPMENT.md

Thoughts on Australia including GitHub in the list of platforms to treat like social media (requiring regulation, age restrictions and ID). Can you imagine “Hello emergency services, my child has a merge conflict” xD Who is getting groomed on GitHub? Who is getting addicted to GitHub 🤣🤣 Banning GitHub is like banning a library. It’s complicated by the fact that although GitHub was acquired by Microsoft in 2018, it kept its CEO and remained mostly separate with the exception of a few CoPilot tools. With GitHub’s CEO resigning and everything moving towards Microsoft and digital ID, I worry about the centralisation of open source software. Most of the code we know would cease to exist if GitHub suddenly went down. Unless you went and tracked down every person with a local copy on their machine (basically the dev team). It’s a scary reality and we need to fight it!!

So given the current state of the UK, I’m looking at moving. If this digital ID goes through then there’s no doubt I will be gone. The easiest places to go to are places that offer a working holiday visa. This allows me to stay there for 2 years and then you can simply extend it. Australia is a great candidate but unfortunately they’re quite right-wing, full of facial recognition and state surveillance and they’re even trying to require ID to use GitHub now. I know!! GitHub 🤯 Canada is my next best choice but they still require biometrics (including all ten fingerprints) for foreigners staying longer than six months. The place is gorgeous though and there’s plenty of outdoors for me to explore, rock climb and kayak through. Any suggestions??

There’s quite a few of these alternative social media platforms being advertised on mainstream social media, ironically. This one reminded me of Nostr a little. It’s clear that the public wants to break free from social media and move onto something without an algorithm that’s not feeding you propaganda constantly. It’s interesting to see how they’re pushing the “verifiable” claims though, whatever that means. I’m not in the slightest part interested in their platform but I think it serves as an important reminder that Nostr could work for the general public and they ARE interested, we just need to streamline the user experience a little to remove the barrier to entry and then shout about it.

Nostr users earn more than Spotify artists! The average Nostr post earns 128 times more than the average Spotify stream!!!! At the time of writing the average Zap amount over the last six months (without excluding anomalies) is ~462. This number comes from the total of sats from zaps (2,541,481,971) divided by the amount of zaps (5,498,398). Spotify pays between 0.003 and 0.005 USD per stream. Taking the average of 0.004 USD per stream and 1 sat equating to 0.0011 USD at the time of writing we can multiply 462 by 0.0011 to get approximately 51 cents, which is 128 times how much you'd get per stream on Spotify!! *statistics sourced from https://stats.nostr.band/stats_api?method=stats&options=full Disclaimer please read in full: Quite frankly I've found some figures that suit my agenda and thus I think my statistic is just as accurate as any you'll see in the news or from government. Although this is based on real figures, they are raw averages and this is a very very simple calculation. This is by no means a very accurate representation of what the average Nostr user would actually receive per post. The method doesn't consider anomalies which will spike averages, bot accounts or anything else. It's merely an amusing statistic that I backs up the very probable truth that you'd earn more as an artist on Nostr than you would on Spotify.
