In 2013, I picked up a hitchiker along the north coast of California and drive her all the way to Sacramento. She was an environmental activist who was in Sac to speak out against Cal-Trans, who was actively working to widen the US 101 and 199 for larger trucks. I recorded this lady performing a song about the whole endeavor in my small home studio. It started with the filling of wetlands in Willits, CA to make way for a highway bypass. Today, they are still working toward this goal, removing old growth redwood from the roadway at Richardson Grove State Park. The last piece of their plan is to widen the 199 along the Smith River The singing is awful, but the song is prescient and still unfolding exactly as planned.

I don't really have a religion, but when I traveled to the interior of Fiji with my wife (which is something like 40% hindu) the people we stayed with hung pictures of Jesus in the room we stayed in. I thought it was really nice of them. Of course, no one in the US would have thought to hang pictures of Krishna or Siva, etc., if they were staying here. So I basically asked about this and why this wasn't taboo to them to hang pictures of another god... It turns out, as they already have multiple gods, that Jesus could just be considered another one without disturbing anything. It's not one that they worshipped, but they dont really worship every god in their own religion either. Some families were devoted to Siva, others to Vishnu or Krishna or whatever. Sometimes, in specific circumstances, they would pray to this one or that one, but there are so many to choose from, you end up picking the few relevant to your own life. Anyway. It was really interesting. Thanks.
Progress report. I'm switching between a half-time and full Purdy-shuffle. I struggle with my doubles (both on the kick and snare). But I'm slowly improving. LFG!
Saturday GMs are like community meetimgs: attendance is mandatory. ๐Ÿซก I'm late, but I'm here. GM nostr.
