LibreNostr v0.5.6 is out 📬 Follow-up to yesterday's NIP-17 deep dive — turns out the fix wasn't quite enough. Private DMs and replies were being delivered, just not to where the recipient was actually listening: → Root cause: the two sides of a send resolved relays asymmetrically. A sender reaching a recipient with no kind-10050 fell back to the public bootstrap pool. That recipient, polling their own inbox, stopped at their own configured relays and never checked the bootstrap pool at all. Two accounts, zero relay overlap — the message was always "sent" and never "received," with nothing wrong on the wire. → Inbox polling now reads the union of every relay a sender could plausibly have used, and an account's own kind-10050 gets announced on first poll instead of only after sending something. → The Messages badge unread count was hardcoded to zero in every code path that builds a conversation row. It's derived from what actually arrived now, and opening a conversation clears it. → A private reply notification was missing its lock icon and opened nothing when tapped — the notification screen built its own note model by hand and silently dropped the fields that carry both. → Private-reply senders are now cached the same way DM senders already were, so a notification shows a name instead of a raw npub. Also fixed the JVM key store behind the app's at-rest encryption, which threw unconditionally and made every encrypted table (DMs, private replies) impossible to unit test — which is exactly how bugs like these reached a real device unnoticed. 11 new tests now cover the notification, unread-count, and wire-deserialization paths end to end. This morning the nicest old lady you could ever encounter, stopped me while on a walk with my dogs to complain about the status the park on front of my house. Illegal migrants dumping their trash, selling drugs, harassing women. Italy and the whole Europe are becoming a dumpster for these rats to live in, but if the nicest old lady is becoming aware of the bottom of the barrel we are scraping, then I believe something is changing.
