On the contrary, desaturating your photo can actually reveal more subtle variations in color and tone, because removing strong colors highlights the underlying differences in luminance and shading.

The art of photography isn’t really about using the camera. It’s about learning to discern and omit - and knowing how to truly see and consider what matters.

Huge congratulations to our third NOICE VEA winner, Kathrin Mundwiler! We received an incredible range of work this past quarter - it was tough to pick just one, but Kathrin’s series really exemplified the ethos of what we value here at NOICE Magazine: finding beauty in the mundane and everyday moments. This has been our focus for over 10 years now, so it’s always a joy and an honor to highlight photographers like Kathrin and work like hers. #noicemag #photography

Visual Expression Awards submission by Misha Yu "I think a good photograph captures something you find interesting. It doesn't have to be flashy or staged or require setup - it can be about finding something worth noticing in an average, mundane day. It should evoke some sort of emotion - I like photographs that make me feel nostalgic, or elicit happiness because of the beauty of the subject. Oh, and good lighting." #photography #noicemag

Visual Expression Awards submission by Euzebiusz Jakubowski: For me, a good photograph is all about the first feeling. It's that instant moment when you look at an image and you just know it speaks to you, it works. You don't have to overthink it. #noicemag #photography

Photography by Tom Hicks: My subject matter is the post-industrial landscape of The Black Country in the UK. I tend to focus on color and I particularly like sun-faded surfaces and features of buildings that are past their prime. #noicemag #photography

NOICE Visual Expression Awards submission by Nick Grinder: I shoot photos in New York City. I'm a musician who has recently rekindled a childhood love of photography, and especially film photography. These photos all feel like moments, and strike a balance and beauty of New York City and the people who I see here. I want them to be a monument to the amazing thing we all create simply by existing. http://www.nickgrinder.com/ #noicemag #photography

Photography by Arianna Marzioli: I’m an Italian photographer living in UK. The multicultural mix of London is what I like the most. Traveling to me is a way to truly express street art, diversity and social behavior of a particular society. Capturing a bizarre mix of elements and the unfiltered exposure of light that not even the human eye can tolerate. #noicemag #photography

NOICE Visual Expressions Awards submission by Ken Koba: My name is Ken, I’m a 22-year-old photographer from Japan. This series is a self-portrait project that explores the emotional landscape of solitude, escapism, and the tension between rebellion against society and the conflicting desire for validation. By placing myself both in front of and behind the camera, I confront the contradictions that shape my identity — the urge to disappear and the simultaneous need to be seen. The result is not a search for beauty, but for honesty — an attempt to give form to the silent, inward currents that often go unnoticed. #noicemag #photography
