I’m interested in reading the Bhagavad Gita. Apparently there are a bunch of different books when searching for this. The one below appears to have the most reviews. Has anyone read the Gita, and if so can you share the link to the one you read?

If we get to a point where humans depend on AI for everything, following every piece of advice it provides because “it knows best”, causing us to eventually lose our own intelligence, who’s the actual robot in this situation?

Has anyone watched or read "The Great Taking" yet by David Rogers Webb? He outlines a terrifying scenario where everyone's assets (stocks/bonds/cash) held at the banks will essentially be taken during this next crisis. What are the chances the governments allow this scenario to play out vs another Fed bailout? Fear porn or possible? YouTube Documentary: E-Book:

Your private key can still be compromised on NOSTR if not secured properly. I wonder if there could be something like Multisig for decentralized social media accounts. 2 of 3 required to post and sign, only 1 needed to login. View quoted note →

What are people using to keep your data and communications private. Here are some suggestions. 1.) Cloud storage: encrypt any data stored on the cloud with PGP. Anyone using NextCloud with E2EE? 2.) Email: Move away from public services like GMail to something like Proton. Encrypt using PGP when possible. 3.) Mobile phones: Enable Apple Advanced Data Protection for E2EE at a minimum. This is not enabled by default. 4.) Money: Encrypt your money using Bitcoin 5.) Messaging: If using Apple Advanced Data Protection, iMessage could be ok. Otherwise, using SimpleX or Signal for messaging. 6.) Web Browsing: Route all traffic over a VPN tunnel. Nord or Proton could be useful here. Combine this with using TOR when possible. 7.) Laptop: Encrypt your entire hard drive using something like FireVault on MacBooks. None of these are perfect, but they should help keep ISPs, Cloud Providers or Cell Providers from watching your data. Am I missing any? View quoted note →

Are there any cool Bitcoin projects folks are working on that need funding? Where is the best place to find and connect with these people?

Does anyone use proton mail? Is it worth a switch from GMail? I like how all emails are encrypted as soon as they are received with your public key; however, they are still accessible before they hit your inbox by Proton so there is still some level of trust there unless you use end-to-end encryption which doesn’t seem feasible for every single message you send. Thoughts?

Your money in the bank isn’t your money. I always knew this, but today I really experienced this. I went to the local branch for my bank in person to make 3 wire payments for a large amount. I provided my ID, and authenticated into the account with a text to my phone. After asking me where the money came from, what it was for and where it was going, the bank refused to send my wires, even though one of the transfers was to an account in my name at another bank! The reason was simply “Because I don’t know you and it’s a large wire transfer”. Do I need to take the branch manager out to dinner to get to know them before I’m allowed to move my own money? If you verify my ID, see me in person, and authenticate to my device, what else do you need!! It’s always all in the name of safety and security though.

Something about logging my deep thoughts using Apple’s new Journal feature just doesn’t seem right. It’s the one part of someone’s life that shouldn’t be shared online! I’ll stick to paper and pen for now. Anyone else trying this?

My Umbrel node stopped syncing 5 days ago. I notice that “connections” shows 0 peers. I also notice some weird things like not being able to login to Tailscale from the Umbrel node. Clicking on the links doesn’t do anything. I checked the community forum and seems like others have reporting something similar but no responses. Anyone see this before?

Has anyone been able to successfully use NordVPN’s “Onion over VPN” specialty servers? I get stuck at “assigning IP address” for some servers. The ones that do eventually connect don’t allow me to access any .onion sites.

I set my 13-year old up with a Bitcoin wallet a couple days ago so he can save half the money he receives from umpiring baseball games in Bitcoin! Needless to say, he’s excited to see that his money earned money while he was sleeping and is slowly starting to get it. If you wanted to share a little sat love with him, here’s his wallet! lnbc1pjfy4pmpp50c8qvssjq596fcw7qfedtcw5putnzfhe9wqu8adeywxdgcnjqy9sdqu2askcmr9wssx7e3q2dshgmmndp5scqzzsxqyz5vqsp5fs5k8tgyzl9vtpwk43wwgwq22jhwfzxcf8pe6xynmdfhmdhk6q2s9qyyssqqsss42ttwzuy0ww52s822ysqqj2wnk4jhm9nhyalefm5v3ywzr64l85v7pegng63achl0lg7vt0aknezqw53zuh2hxqmpvafj0k5efqqug9rzt image

Can anyone recommend open source software to create a QR code locally without having to share that data with an external service?
