All great points. I’ll add you will have an easier time geographically if rain and sun are abundant. Mountains provide tremendous security against invasion. Nuclear fallout should also be considered. Whole home generators and gas stoves that run from a 1000 gal tank are good insurance for food, power and communications (Starlink mini & meshtastic.) Abundant wildlife & chickens are easy food sources in a pinch. Local knowledge of plants and fungi can be used for medicine & food. Ram and hand pumps that feed water tanks will also make life easier. Just some thoughts.
