BTCmap numbers are growing nicely. @BTC Map
How could we go faster? How can we get from thousands to millions?
Square offering Bitcoin to all its merchants was great. What other PoS operators could we convince to join?
Stablecoins can be frozen, banned, blocked, confiscated at the blockchain level. Why? Because there is a centralised issuer.
Bitcoin cannot. Because it is decentralised.
Bitchat is great, but bluetooth range limits its utility as an emergency alternative for Internet shutdown situations. Iran right now being a good example.
@calle is working on adding wifi mesh capacity. That would be a nice range extension.
What would be the next range increase that can be done with existing cellphone hardware?
ChatGPT has gone from free to freemium to unusable unless you pay really fast. By the end of 2026 the free version won't get 2+2 right.
I imagine other chatbots will follow a similar path.
Thankfully we can make our own. Self-host.

I still don't fully trust the data. It seems as it gets more complete it loses accuracy. I'm going to have to manually check it all...
An Uber style private hire vehicle does an estimated 10x trips per day as a private car in a city the size of London.
An extra 100.000 taxis/ubers could take 1 million private cars off the streets.
It seems like low hanging fruit to reduce traffic problems in large cities.
My guess is that there are political reasons not to do it (taxi licensing is a source of money for many municipalities).
Dems: we need a police state because climate change.
Reps: we need a police state because immigration.
Is there a political option that does not involve a police state?
It's so funny to me that the real metaverse, despite billions spent by Meta, MS and others, is Minecraft.
Millions of kids are spending time on thousands of servers.
Slightly better data. Most curves are still just an approximation, but the roman, mongol, british, spanish empires now reflect the historical expanse a bit more accurately.
I will keep improving it.

In the future...
Bitcoin will protect our property rights.
Nostr will enable our free speech.
3D print will guarantee our self defense.
But for sovereign individuals to survive and thrive we need to imagine the institutions that will allow us to live in a free, open and voluntary society. Where cooperation and trade are not dictated from above by kings and parliaments, but built bottom up and constantly evolving to fit our needs.
Some authors like Vernor Vinge (The Ungoverned), Neal Stephenson (Snow Crash) or Heinlein (The Moon is a harsh Mistress) have tried to imagine what would replace nation states and governments in a voluntary society.
Others like David Friedman (The Machinery of Freedom), Murray Rothbard or Bruce Benson have theorised.
More have studied what institutions historical stateless or decentralised societies used for conflict resolution and to provide the services that we have come to rely on the state for.
Solutions and ideas are out there. But how to go from idea to reality? How to meme a freer world into existence?
Creo que esto se publicó en 2012 (en español). Sigue siendo muy interesante.
