solar panels are an interesting creature to live with. they don’t display the well contained predictably so sought after in the industrialized west. they are more fluid in their behavior. a hot, clear, sunny summer day will not necessarily capture more energy than a cool, light overcast fall day. temperature and sun angle change efficiency. i like interacting with systems which have changing behavior based on inputs and environment. it keeps your mind active, and seeking understanding.

most days i feel all mankind should be treated with love, patience, and grace. some days i feel like the egobros and karens running the megacorporations and governments should be made afraid to stop at the gas station or store because of what the people might do. fortunately the first one wins out. 🙂

studying chimney and updraft dynamics today. im interested in potentially creating a flue diverted bench. or, a solid thermal mass ( in the shape of a bench ) where the chimney has two paths out. one direct, so that the chimney can be heated, creating draft even in cold weather, and then rediverted through a long run that passes through a heat capturing mass of brick and clay. the two chimney path method is used widely in Siberia where air gets so cold and dense in a chimney, you sometimes cant start a fire because the fire cant get enough draft to push the cold air out of the end of the chimney.
