ive been thinking about the phrase in the bible, “and because of the increase of lawlessness, the love of many will grow cold.”
when people dont have a shared set of general rules that they operate and interact by, they are always on guard. Add amorality to this, and you get a population that doesnt trust anyone.
side note, once the connections of openness,
love, and a shared culture disappear, people “de-unify” and are much more easily controlled.

though this was not the point, the people behind “open borders” understand this
