A favourite upcycled denim coat, that I won a Hive.blog sewing competition with! Made from a few pairs of pale, soft denim jeans, it was a masterpiece effort, which I wish now that I'd kept... (It most unfortunately was stolen by a young woman from England, who I trusted to pay me in instalments for it 😦) Losing it does help motivate me to create another one! Working in our forest today was spectacular and deeply full-filling; every session feels like a return to the embodied indigeous being that I knew as a child. Clearing paths, chopping wood, selecting which trees should flourish... sacred tweaking and the methodical strengthening of our bodies, calming of our minds and emotions. Our land becomes more ours, with every right action πŸ™πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ€—πŸͺ΅β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯πŸ«€ #homesteading #sovereignty #naturallaw #freedom image

Stripes & Vintage Embroidery - my latest post over on the Hive.blog; "It was a joy working the vintage embroidery into the bottom of the trews! They clash & harmonise in equal measure, and for me they bring more meaning and beauty into fabrics that previously were rather conservative." Appreciating the wildness of our mountainside land, as the weather shifts into deeper autumnal rhythms... We're able to see much better the contours of the hillside, as our trees shed their leaves and carpet the forest floor in new colours... A blessed time, chopping wood, harvesting greens and cracking walnuts πŸ™β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯πŸ’ #sovereignhomestead #naturallaw #italy #freedom image

Extreme inspiration from our land, as we symbiotically reconstruct the natural shelter which is on it. Feeling very happy to be reaching (at least one) corner of the 'more-stable stable', having reset the floor in natural stones. Some rocks were already in the building, some outside... Beautiful process of finding each Right one, to fit into the next πŸ˜‡πŸ™πŸ’™ #homesteading #naturallaw #creativeliving #slowliving image

A new post about our #sovereignhomestead is up on the Hive - "I love that we are in this dreaming space, of inventing a new kind of home, one that we have not really seen yet, but have a strong sense of wantingness towards. And I love our shared understanding of what is important, and what is less so; we absolutely do not want a conventional electrical supply or infrastructure. Nor a conventional water supply! Nor conventional cupboards and storages spaces… I made a wooden bed frame that we may bring with us…" Read the full post here: https://ecency.com/hive-114308/@clareartista/hovel-sweet-hovel image

Olives, olives, olives... we are harvesting the final fruits of our first year on this magical #sovereignhomestead in Molise, Italy... Very grateful for this new wealth of nutriment available to us so easily and freely πŸŽ‰πŸŽŠβœ¨πŸ’–πŸ’ I wrote an essay recently, around how Nature Pays Us More - and will be recording a podcast on the subject, later this week πŸ’šβœ¨πŸ˜‡ #naturallaw #freedom #foodforfree #theartoflife image

Nature Pays Us More... "Payments might feel lighter, easier, less consequential, now that things are moving into the digital realm, but there is the distinct air , to me, that humanity is now free-falling – tumbling into a bottomless abyss of empty darkness, the further we move away from a grounded, balanced, wholesomeness in our living and in our transacting. Our collective arrogance seems immeasurable: our belief in there being infinite supplies of everything, available at any time of the day, at the click of a pixelated button, ad infinitum, forever and ever... Does it really feel like freedom, to be able to click buttons like this, and then to accept a package at the door? Would it not feel betterto pluck a ripe fruit, put it into a homemade basket (rather than a metal fabricated one that is borrowed just for the time spent perambulating the store), jar it up for later. Look at the jar later on one’s crammed larder shelves, bursting with bright condiments and nutrition? Or to visit a local producer of such riches (minus the strip lighting, the loud beeping, the tinned music and advertising whacking us on the ears), to dine with them in the sacred natural light, communing with truly holy food and presence….?" Making peace with our olive trees... We've had our land for 3 months now, and have been gifted heavily with walnuts, figs, pomegranates, nettles, burdock, wild chard, mint, wild onions, firewood, natural water, fresh air.... and now we begin the epic work of rejuvinating our olive groves. When we bought the land, we were told that there were 'una quarantina' of trees - around 40 of them. And they were hard to count! We kept finding another one and another one, tucked in the deep undergrowth, or squished below trees... When I took it upon myself to methodically tot up the numbers, we were rather pleasantly amazed to discover that in fact there are at least 80 πŸ€— Like many plots in this region of Italy, they've been abandoned over the past 20 or so years, as elders have passed on, and the next generation has become elder, with no-one in the family willing to come back to the land and work it properly. Folks like us are filling this niche. But we are working the land differently. Slowly. Without machines. In tune with our learning; quiet, humble mastery under Natural Law. Today was the first time I've climbed into the limbs and listened, cut, plucked, removed (the vast majority!) inedible fruits, and begun the long relationship that we are committed to here. Many long cool days ahead, which we cannot wait to enjoy on our land, sacred tweaking and doing our very best to bring back the natural harmony, abundance, beauty and divinity of this piece of our earthly heaven. πŸͺ·πŸ™πŸŒ³ Clare. image
