Tando lets you easily spend bitcoin anywhere in Kenya. As easy as M-Pesa, but cheaper! ⚡
We had the pleasure of sharing our story at the @AdoptingBitcoinCapeTown.
Our presentation focused on Bitcoin as a Medium of Exchange across Africa... 🧵👇
...and emphasized the importance of Listening and not Lecturing when talking to people about Bitcoin.
Tando was born from this very act of listening during our efforts to orange-pill Kenyans. At the time, we made it a habit to tip service providers in Bitcoin. Without fail, there was one question we kept hearing after the bitcoin hit their wallet: “How can I spend it?”
We didn’t lecture them with responses like “HODL, don’t spend it!” or “You don’t spend your Bitcoin!”
Instead, we listened, and what they were really asking for was an easy way to turn their bitcoin into basic necessities, a way to spend it. That’s how Tando came to be.
If you can only receive Bitcoin but can’t _easily_ spend it, then you’re trapped in the classic “chicken and egg” problem
To break out of that eggshell, you need a tool that lets anyone easily spend their bitcoin, to transform into a fully grown chicken (aka a bitcoin circular economy). That’s where Tando comes in.
If Bitcoin is to become an everyday money, we need solutions that make spending it simple just like people simply spend their day-to-day fiat money.
As bitcoiners, we need to listen instead of lecturing if we truly want to accelerate Bitcoin adoption. People are telling us what they need, all we have to do is listen!

Erik explains how Tando makes it easy to spend bitcoin anywhere in Kenya and in doing so demonstrates that bitcoin can be used as a global money and infuse local economies with more revenue from this growing asset.

Coincidence??!? 😂

Naomi visited the village last week and wanted to spend some bitcoin, so she went to the nearest shop. Of course, they don’t accept bitcoin directly (yet), but luckily, we have @Tando.me! Watch how easy it is to spend bitcoin anywhere in Kenya! 🇰🇪

If I search for it using the note ID I can see it. Relays should all be the same, as I'm using the same account in both.

Just Yakihonne'd a video. Curious to see how it shows up in other nostr clients. View article →
