One of the byproducts of learning deeply about Bitcoin is fully grasping just how doomed the global economy is if left on a fiat standard. Before you can truly appreciate Bitcoin, you must first understand money. And once you understand money and its history, you see the pattern repeating itself. That's when you realize that BTC is the only way to break the cycle. I used to have a terrible relationship with money. I was raised poor, and I thought it was normal to live paycheck to paycheck. High time preference had me spending money before it even hit the bank, because that's what I saw my parents do. The price of goods and services going up over time wasn't even something that I had the capacity to question. Although, I do remember a joke from my childhood about how "$5 is not enough for gas money anymore." Struggling to make ends meet was just part of the human experience, right? We are born into a system that is designed to keep us broke and employed. To keep us under such great stress and financial burden that we're left with no choice but to continue running the rat race. Meanwhile, we are INTENTIONALLY denied a proper financial education so that we remain just illiterate enough to avoid understanding what's going on. It was @Jeff Booth who finally flipped the switch for me: "THE NATURAL STATE OF THE MARKET IS DEFLATION". Of course, that went way over my head at first, as I'm sure it did for many others. I thought, "Surely there's a better way to phrase that so it's more approachable." But now that I understand what it means, I know it's perfect. To change it would only dilute the message. So say it. Say it again and again. Say it a thousand times until you get it too. Inflation is theft. There is no other way to spin it. We're actively being stolen from 24/7, and the only reason people aren't rioting in the streets is because the number in their bank account isn't changing - unless they go to Chipotle. That $15 burrito that was $12 last year doesn't hit home like it really needs to. I'm not perfect either. I used to be desensitized to it too. I can see my past self saying something like "Sure buddy, nice tin foil hat." But the fact that they're stealing the VALUE of the money, rather than the dollars themselves, is somehow even more dastardly than if they were just reaching into my pocket and taking part of my paycheck. Oh wait... It's easy to feel like you missed out, or that you're too late. But I promise you: once you see Bitcoin for what it is - immutable freedom - you'll realize that it's impossible to be late. I went several cycles in the space before I took the time to learn more about BTC. I was so wrapped up in chasing alts and finding the hottest new coin that I wrote BTC off as ancient and slow, destined to be surpassed by some newer, faster tech. Now I know that Bitcoin is the life boat, and there is no way I'm going down with the ship. Either you climb aboard, or you sink with fiat. #HODL -DD
