PSA: When the airport tells you to do facial recognition scan, you are allowed to opt out and show a ‘Real ID’ instead. Tip: If you first hand them your Real ID before verbally stating your intention to opt out of facial scan, they will simply hand it back to you and say they don’t need your Real ID and tell you that a facial scan is needed. At which point you can simply recite the sacred magical phrase, “I would like to opt out of the face scan please” at which point they will ask for your Real ID again even though they just handed it back to you.m and said it wasn’t needed.
