A true masterwork can be distinguished by many features. Like withstanding the test of time. Or that you can revisit it at different points in your life, and each time uncover something that escaped your understanding before. Like that famous guard in Skyrim who "took an arrow in the knee." It was a fun meme, and I quite liked it. After yesterday's football and my body reminding me why it prefers a sedentary life, I can only feel melancholic, with a deep connection to the guard that wasn't there before. Me too, brother, me too

#5pushupsAndFootballSession OK, I lied about the pushups, but I couldn't let a Community reference just slip away like that.

I am always disappointed when people can't grasp that things can be two things at the same time. Like something can be "not enough" and still "great, enjoying it very much". E.g., sexy time can be great but still not scratch every itch you crave - that doesn't mean it's bad. Or that you can understand why someone does something without endorsing it or being willing to do it yourself. Like, I can understand how and why some people abuse their position of power, but I would still prefer roleplaying a "desperate maid" scenario rather than having it play out nonconsensually.

On a whim to break the status quo - and partially because we haven't played any board games lately - I proposed a game of Carcassonne. And dear reader, you have to understand, our Carcassonne matches make most of the stories you've heard about Monopoly nights look like toddler exercises. To say they're intense is like saying Mt. St. Helens lost only a couple dozen inches. I don't know why I felt the need to play such an emotion-filled game. It was fun for all involved though.

Con: Kid returned earlier from the play pit and helped you with your heavenly tasting dessert. Pro: Preeety sure that shared portions don't count toward your calorie income. #parentstr

#5pushups, but not sure if it counts since we are attending a multi-course lunch later.

So it turns out I am not immature, I just need friends to play D&D with.

Say what you will about Montessori-style parenting - try frowning upon parents having time to read while their kindergartener makes pancakes for dinner. No sane time-strapped parent would, though.

Today's #drunkstr was an interesting one. We had a guest with whom we talked about #lotr and Tolkien's motivation, and about Avatar, and Roller Coaster Tycoon by the great Sid Meier, and about dozens of not just YouTube creators. I just love how our weekly pub meeting (the beer is really just accessory) transformed into podcast-quality talks with both recurring and one-shot cast. Admittedly, I'm not always in the right mood if there are only two of us, but I would still say I'd give an arm and a leg for having that tradition. Apparently one more checkbox for ADHD symptoms with a strong preference towards rituals. I should push through and actually find a doctor willing to check if I'm just divergent or actually have problems.

So tired. Workshop went as expected, had to pick up the boots, do some grocery shopping, sell ice skates the kids had outgrown, fix the garden fence, hide snow shovels and snow bobs, ate pizza, put something in the attic, load the dishwasher. And I still have an hour to work before the pub, and I am tired. Maybe I AM getting old.
