That without principles, our ideals are no more than aspirations and marketing.
Trying to measure decentralization without the CAP theorem is like trying to measure freedom without the constitution/bill of rights/etc.
Contrast is what makes the light appear brightly. Only in the darkness can you see the spark.
Most people don’t realize this, but Merkle didn’t just make Merkle trees… he was the first to conceive of public-private key cryptography.
The idea of having two separate keys (one public and one private) is thanks to him. Respect to the true OGs.

Cryptography and the ability to run a node is step one.
Synchronization and data discovery are step two.
Nostr is still mostly at step one. Step two is only beginning. Shortcuts are tempting but unreliable during emergencies that invite political censorship.
Some differences in values are worth tolerating for a greater mission.
It just depends. But when it comes to life or death emergencies, it tends to ring true.
