The apostles, once scared and hiding after the crucifixion, spread across the Roman world proclaiming the risen Christ after the resurrection. Most faced brutal deaths: crucifixion, beheading, stoning, spearing, burning. They had nothing earthly to gain, everything to lose. They claimed to be eyewitnesses of the resurrection. But read the context (Phil 4:11-13): Paul is saying he’s learned to be content in any circumstance. Abundance or hunger, plenty or need, because Christ gives him strength to endure it all.
