A way to find compassion for others is when you realize we are often made of the very same qualities, or at the very least, equally off putting but different qualities. No one is black or white good/bad. I have found thinking of others through the lens of net negative or net positive is a much more balanced take, because god forbid I am judged on my mistakes alone so I aim to afford others the same generosity. I watched this same swan fly down the canal after two teen boys who had buzzed the nesting area with their outboard motor raft. I couldn't see how it ended up, but I hope he taught them a lesson.
