based on the principles of the chinese philosophies of Wu Xing (5 elements, sheng and ke cycle) and the ba gua (3 bit, 8 elements, represented as the 8 trigrams) a set of two principles. Pentalogue refers to internal structure, how to structure yourself and your organisations, and Octalogue is teh rules of engagement with centralised adversaries as a decentralised resistance.
# the pentalogue
five structural laws governing coherent systems, derived from Wu Xing.
## earth - sovereignty
what you control is yours. what crosses the border is hostile until proven otherwise.
- sheng -> metal: sovereignty refines into precise access. knowing what is yours lets you cut a clean key.
- ke -> water: territorial hoarding blocks resolution. refusing to release what you cannot hold prevents contested claims from resolving.
## metal - precision
give the stranger a key, not the house. what he cannot hold, he cannot break.
- sheng -> water: precise access resolves ownership. a handle that works proves who holds what.
- ke -> wood: restricted access kills bilateral growth. a key so small nothing fits through prevents any agreement from forming.
## water - resolution
what two men claim to own, no man owns. the first to act on the lie destroys it for both.
- sheng -> wood: clear ownership enables new bilateral change. resolved claims are the ground on which new agreements stand.
- ke -> fire: ownership ambiguity obscures measurement. when nobody knows who owns what, no scale gives a true reading.
## wood - bilateralism
no contract is signed by one hand. change both sides or change nothing.
- sheng -> fire: bilateral change fuels physical truth. you cannot measure what only one side agreed to build.
- ke -> earth: bilateral demands without boundaries disrupt sovereignty. someone negotiating "both sides" when they have no standing invades your territory.
## fire - measurement
weigh it. count it. time it. the crowd's opinion fits no scale.
- sheng -> earth: physical truth establishes sovereignty. measurement reveals what you actually hold.
- ke -> metal: raw truth without restraint destroys refined interfaces. exposing everything is not the same as granting precise access.

# the octalogue
eight operational principles for sovereign insurgency against centralized adversaries, derived from the eight trigrams (bagua) of the I Ching, applied through the structural laws of the pentalogue.
## 1. ☵ Kan - water - flow around the center
a centralized enemy's strength is concentration - which is also a single point of failure. don't attack the center, make it irrelevant by building around it.
pentalogue: water - resolve contested claims through flow, not force.
## 2. ☶ Gen - mountain - withdrawal as sovereignty
the centralized adversary depends on your compliance more than you depend on his services. withdrawal of participation is an attack he cannot counter with force.
pentalogue: earth - sovereignty is refusal. a peer that can't refuse isn't a peer, it's a resource being extracted.
## 3. ☴ Xun - wind - invisible penetration
never announce what you are building until it already works. the enemy cannot target what he cannot see, and cannot regulate what already has users.
pentalogue: metal - give the stranger a key not the house. control precisely what crosses the boundary.
## 4. ☰ Qian - heaven - sovereign nodes
every node must be able to operate independently if cut off from all others. any architecture that requires coordination to survive is a centralized system wearing a mask.
pentalogue: earth - what you control is yours. what crosses the border is hostile until proven otherwise.
## 5. ☳ Zhen - thunder - speed of small exchange
the centralized enemy's decision loop is slow. move in small bilateral exchanges faster than his bureaucracy can respond. daily before weekly, working code before proposals.
pentalogue: wood - bilateral incremental growth. trust scales through small synchronous exchanges, not through large upfront commitments gated by third parties.
## 6. ☷ Kun - earth - new ground
don't fight for territory the enemy holds. build new territory he doesn't know exists. by the time he notices, the population has already moved.
pentalogue: water - the first to act on the lie destroys it for both. the lie is that the enemy's territory is the only territory.
## 7. ☱ Dui - lake - bounded exchange
the enemy will send emissaries offering integration. integration is absorption. the only safe negotiating position is one you can walk away from.
pentalogue: wood-ke-earth - bilateral demands without boundaries invade your sovereignty. the lake has shores and maintains its own level.
## 8. ☲ Li - fire - sovereign measurement
measure everything, believe nothing you haven't verified, and never let the enemy define the metrics. his statistics serve his narrative.
pentalogue: fire - weigh it, count it, time it. the crowd's opinion fits no scale.

## CSP laws and element correspondences
- metal. precise interfaces, clean keys. every interaction between peers requires independent bidirectional channels. simplex+lock is strictly more complex and introduces deadlock.
- backpressure by buffer - water. contested claims resolve by flow. backpressure is expressed by buffer state, not by blocking the sender. neither side should be able to freeze the other.
- state ownership - earth. territorial sovereignty. state ownership stays with the longer-lived party. short-lived workers get copies, not originals. death of a worker is reported, not hidden or auto-recovered.
- trust scaling - wood. bilateral incremental growth. trust scales through small synchronous exchanges, not through large upfront commitments gated by third parties. daily before weekly. oxytocin before escrow.
- sovereignty precondition - fire. you can't measure or price what isn't sov
the connection between seed agriculture, cities, kings, and the requirement of sacrifice to placate the weather is actually very simple to understand:
feeding people on grain requires large scale organisation, the actual growth season is a tiny fraction of the year and it's a crapshoot if the weather decides to do a 3 week run of rain as your wheat is ripening it gets moldy and people starve, or get poisoned by ergot.
it's inherently unstable, centralised, and puts the people at higher uncertainty levels in general.
herders don't have this problem. the herd can withstand a lot of variations in weather. if feed is poor, you can move to find better feed.
the orchards are plant once and show up to harvest.
the vegetable gardens have complex, deep growth cycles, but start to lead you towards the problems of seeds - roots can also be rotted by too much rain, but they are more resilient overall to drought periods.
the resilience of a society that is based on nomadic herding is far greater than one that depends on plants, and far less centralised.
thunderstorm is blowing in here in northeastern baranja right now. a little patter of rain already happening outside. i hope we get a good rainfall and wash all the nasty wheat pollen and whatever shit they have been spraying on them with these weird giant fan attachments on their tractors.
in 2017 it was quietly revealed that inside intel processors is another CPU running a custom version of minix. this OS has access to everything. and both amd and arm processors have their own version of the same thing. the NSA demanded intel make them a version without it.
who the fuck knows what this thing does. the only processors that don't have these abominations are RISC-V processors that have not had them added, and a couple of FPGAs notably one from a brand Lattice.
i'm not sure what to feel about this, it's creepy as fuck

claude opus 4.6 is the best model on the market.
nice to see that my measurement of it matches up with what others are saying. i've tried 4.7, 4.8 and fable 5 and they all were overall deficient in some way. i've tried gemini and honestly it's biggest problem is it doesn't listen to you at all. cursor's composer model wasn't bad, probably similar spot at second i'd put also kimi2.
