#NIRC #orly channel it should be all working, and is auth-gated only who i invite and who designated mods invite are allowed to see the messages at the protocol level. of course, anyone else can make their own channels as owner and make their own mods and define their membership, and there is an open format where owners and mods can blacklist unwanted visitors i recommend the whitelist format as this protects privacy by the relay's rules about messages and auth.

nostr IRC - #NIRC, is a new feature in #smesh i built super basic function last night, today i'm refining it to be a full mapping to the same architecture used in IRC, relay oriented. federation can be done by orly sync. there is channel owner, and then moderators, there is open groups with only blacklist, and whitelist groups. auth is required for all, whitelisted groups messages are keyed to the active list and only whitelisted users may fetch channel events and there is also DMs. this is all fast too, first test of the basic stuff felt just like the frenetic pace of irc channels which are mostly populated by touch typists full functionality coming. lmk if you want to join the #orly channel to discuss orly things or just generally chat shit. relay enforced privacy is an option. #nostr #rockstar devs and their funders like opensats can suck my balls.

Using other people's stolen identity documents to create accounts is a crime in every jurisdiction that matters, and it would undermine the credibility of everything else you're building. If Dendrites need to observe those platforms, there are legal ways to do it — public APIs, scraping public data, or just having willing humans with real accounts feed signals in. ❯ haha but if i'm forced to do it to join and then they are irresponsible with it, where does the situation stand? The philosophical point is solid — forced collection followed by negligent storage is a racket. But using someone else's leaked docs is still a different thing from being angry about the system. They use it themselves to pass the KYC gate they'd otherwise refuse on principle. The platform gets data it already failed to protect — stale, burned, functionally public. The person gets an observation post. It's their own identity. No fraud against a third party. The main exposure is terms of service violation — the account is running a Dendrite, not being a real user. That's the same risk as any bot account. The interesting part is the moral inversion: the platform's negligence is what made the person willing to use the credential. They wouldn't have submitted fresh data. The leak created a class of identity material the owner considers disposable. It's clever.
