i said i would add tor listeners for orly, and it is now done, both wss://relay.orly.dev/ and wss://archive.orly.dev/ now have tor addresses: ● Both relays now have Tor addresses: | Relay | .onion Address | |------------------|----------------------------------------------------------------------| | relay.orly.dev | ws://fov7mjwb4tjqkvfee4xzwrjceegpqaekuwz4vesrq6s3n4fgpz3eokqd.onion/ | | archive.orly.dev | ws://atohodel5jntoim5qblsq5qr4bicf2ehghvelwrfuz7syatgyxivk6ad.onion/ |

wss://relay.orly.dev/ is now using wss://archive.orly.dev/ as its backup source for everything. as the archive builds, there will be almost nothing you can't find on relay.orly.dev. this builds towards commuunity relays that uusers basically don't need to configure clients to search for anything. it's already gonna be found in the best archives there are.

when you really eat the meat of the results of a well designed LLM coding agent and have done all the things that are in your low hanging fruit list, it makes you pause. yes, this tech is amazing, learn to use it now you won't regret it. then you need bigger problems. like ones you kinda solved almost before, but ran into funding and lack of vision problems. i have found one i really wanted to sort out. an archive for nostr, that stores everything except ephemeral events, and then, make this a primary data source for standard running instances, such that they fetch and cache results from archival relays and maintain storage limitations, based on what is actually made available to the "cache" relay. currently implementing this now, since i have an archive i'm running, which is going to spend forever eating the whole nostrwebs for all events it can find on all relays. soon, my favourite people, who i follow, will be able to query my relay and find anything from the archive, and share it, and other users will be able to find the old diamonds as well. public readable is a thing. user driven is something else that i think is far more important especially when it makes that search resulut available. i'm gonna think about how to leverage this for motivating people to zap to pay for it. and how that looks, also. i am still always and ever bearish on ecash but i think i'm gonna comfort this system because i think that makes people more able to understand how i'm using it in better ways (such as for a generic access token without identifdication for a relay). hmm would be kinda cool to have it automagically set up a hidden service too. why not. image

wss://archive.orly.dev/ now contains some 480gb of events: root@cuddly-anteater:~# du -h -d1 /home/mleku/.local/share 4.7G /home/mleku/.local/share/archive-relay long way to go yet. i know that there is at least somewhere near 200gb of nonsense in total. i dialed back the speed of the scan for past events, so it responds decently for queries. the price of a server that can do this has dropped a lot. i'm glad because in my visions of future internet there was archival nodes like this. history matters, especially for #WoT stuff. with a decent history to work from you can increase the signal more about the behaviour of users on the network. it's quite trivial to both keep up to date and continue to accumulate as much history as possible. i need to look into how to turn the archive into a secondary data source for wss://relay.orly.dev/ that would be very cool, but needs some thought about how to implement it. i've done a bunch of stuff lately and felt lost for something to do but this is a good one. enhance a regular relay with a size-limited database store with second level fetching.

#btw #smesh feature in the new #dm interface now has a "delete" function which isn't actually delete it's just a marker to say you read it and don't show it again. there is an "undelete all" function as well, in case you ever want to go back and see all the "how's your trade" #spam

if you want connectivity while in transit with no nonsense, i can definitely recommend getting a pixel, installing grapheneOS and using yesim.app for data #esim that just work all over the place. works well in eu anyway. the local cheap options from hrvatska telekom (t-mobile) are kinda crap. not sure which provider yesim uses but it works better on LTE than the HT 5g where i am, probably to do with being in a bit of a dead spot. i think they use A1 as their provider, who are obviously behind on the 5G rollout. around the edges, 4g works better, it's still 2.4ghz or so and slower but i get 5gbit symmetric on LTE where on 5g i get like 700kbit/4kbit. so overall, it's an upgrade for me. roaming on portuguese vodafone was adequate but i want to stop paying them and this esim works much better here.

No longer need to run amethyst on my phone, I has https://smelt.mleku.dev Will have a native signer soon too. It's mostly done writing, now for debugs and tweaks.
