Quick story about creating a bitcoin allowance for my 7 year old. I proposed an allowance based upon proof of work and gave her the option of receiving $1/day or 1k sats/day. She immediately chose 1k of sats/day, I asked her why expecting her to choose the bigger number, rather, she hit it out of the park by stating “because bitcoin cannot be controlled”. I gotta hand it to the @Tuttle Twins TV the episodes and graphic novels have really created a level of financial literacy about monetary policy for my kid that I alone could not. Now, I’m working toward a system of hot and cold wallets for her to learn how to receive and use these sats. The Bitkey seems perfect for cold storage, and for the moment cashu.me and e cash payments between us seem like the best way to exchange value while not having to have her device(old I phone) online. GM The vibe I’m getting is that the best way to support #bitcoin isn’t to spend it at all, rather just buy and hold, use credit cards and pay off living expenses with your stack, repeat. At first I thought, no way would I ever purchase a cold wallet from Amazon. Over time however my tune has changed as I continue to consider how adoption is going to happen. It’s the most normal thing ever to use Amazon to purchase everything, so why not a bitcoin product from a reputable company from an individual who is so invested in bitcoin adoption from all angles. The Bitkey will be the gateway to a Coldcard, the expectations are too high, at least this is an option that gets Bitcoin off of exchanges and will be a good tool in teaching self custody while making it easy. I’m not gonna hold my savings in I , but I’m gonna give it a go and see what this experience is like and will report back.
