On a mission to make western shirts in America.

The kind of hate I usually get on social media is stuff like this (not here on NOSTR btw). Always blows my mind. You’d think people would root for American made western wear. image

Thinking about adding some removable collar stays to our shirts. I was looking at all of my old and favorite vintage western shirts the other day, and was noticing how they all have collar stays (sewn into the collar). This was an idea I had when I first started years ago, and just kind of forgot about it. Until this week. Could be a cool detail, that pays homage to the originals, would add nice shape to the collar, and I don’t see other western shirts companies doing today. What do you think?

If you ever loose a snap, button, or tear your shirt from us (it’s rare but can happen), we will cover all costs, do whatever can to fix it, and ship it back to you for free. image

When my grandma past away a few years ago, my mom found this American flag in her closet. Idk the history behind it. It’s lightweight, feels like gauze or cotton voile, it’s stained, left / right edge is just overlocked. It feels cheap, but also so much nicer than the plastic ones you buy at Costco today. We hang it in our office for good luck. It probably doesn’t have special powers, but it might.

Seeing more and more western brands raise their prices on their western shirts (that are mfg overseas). And I love it. Giant brands, mass producing over decades in countries with low wages, have trained the market to think this is a cheap shirt. That it should cost $50-$90 retail. When it is not. It’s extremely difficult to make. Buck Mason’s pricing ($168-$198) is where a western shirt, made overseas, should start at in my opinion - and I’m glad they’re doing it 🥲

Arizona country band - The Kruse Brothers - just released their first full album, and we got the opportunity to fit them in some shirts on the cover. It turned out great. image

Our Desert Chore Coat - it’s taken me years, but finally found the right people and figured out how to make these at scale in Arizona, and the quality great, and only getting better.

Ending the year on a high note. If anyone’s been watching the new Landman Season 2 - the shirt Cooper (Jacob Lofland) is wearing throughout episode 4 is a custom West Major shirt we made for the show. Taylor Sheridan came across our brand through a store that carries us in Fort Worth (he loved it). That led to his team reaching out, and asked us to make them some shirts for the show. First time seeing one of our pieces on the big screen. Pretty awesome. Thank you to everyone that’s supported us this year - we sold a record number of shirts, grew and learned a lot. We’re doing something almost none of these other western brands are doing - which is sewing our shirts in America. It’s not easy, and we appreciate everyone that’s been riding with us. We’re running it back in 2026, and have some exciting things in the works. HAPPY NEW YEAR 🤘🌵

The western wear industry is a complex space filled with dichotomies. It seems like to many, not all, but many consumers in it - something being “cheap”, is considered to be more “true cowboy”. I get comments and replies often that simply because our shirts are expensive (relative to many shirts in the space), it’s not for a real cowboys, it’s fake, people tell me no one will ever wear it, etc. It’s a weird dichotomy. I could make our shirt in China - 100% in China - sell it for $60 with a better margin, make more money, and it would be more widely accepted as authentic. For real cowboys. My company would probably be 10x the size it is today. And I’d have a significantly better chance of getting into the big western retailers like Boot Barn. It sucks 😆 But we fight on

The houndstooth pattern dates back to 18th century Scotland. Apparently was originally made / worn by Shepards. People thought the little broken check looked like a dogs tooth - so it eventually got the name houndstooth. It was basically OG scottish workwear. Then in the early 20th century, high end tailors and fashion brands started using it. And now we often associate it with super nice coats, pants, etc. Often woven with wool. We made it into a western shirt. Ours is 100% cotton. And it feels awesome.

New Chore Coat we’re going to run next. It’s a herringbone denim. Light weight. Soft. Seems somewhat basic, until you look close.

This dude would have looked less creepy and more relatable in a brown corduroy western shirt. But I’m biased 😬 image
