Me: I’m out of time to plan my day before I start work. I’ll take a break at some point and plan what I need to do.
Also me: Cool—I don’t have anything written down that I need to do today!

Husband. Father. Christian. Tech nerd. Dev. Annoyingly optimistic at times.
I help recovering perfectionists get the day-to-day out of the way so they can stop chasing the dream and start living the dream.
You can make choices that make doing the right thing easier.
Walking five miles on a treadmill is hard. That's over an hour of walking! If you get tired or bored and want to pack it in, you can stop at any time. There’s no cost. Just step off the treadmill.
Even walking around a track doesn’t take much commitment. You might feel an obligation to finish the lap you’re on, but there’s no reason you need to finish all 20 laps. If you want to quit after 17 or 11 or 5, you can.
But if you spend that initial burst of energy hiking 2.5 miles out, you’re committed. You can’t quit. You’ve got to keep going. The easiest thing you can do is finish what you set out to do.

The wife and I were discussing this last night. All motion is relative.

Our son is walking around the house, singing, “when money is controlled, money is corrupted!”
I’m doing something right.
Watched Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation with my oldest today (her first viewing). That may be my favorite Mission. The cinematography is simply brilliant. The opera, the chase through foggy London at night… beautiful. Great banter, just the right amount of humor. (Also, in our head canon, Hunley is still Jack Ryan.)

In other news, California voted to:
- make shoplifting illegal again
- block state rent controls
- not inflate the cost of labor
We’re watching election night coverage. Every time they show a race (55%-44%), our son is adding the numbers together (“99!”). His idea to practice his Maths. I approve.
GM! It’s going to be an emotional day today. Lots of people will be high-strung. Lots of fear, anger, hope and celebration will be circulating. Stay calm and focus on what you can control, just like any other day.

So what we need is a new #MTG player format that bans the Universe Beyond cards.
Yes, I just picked up some Doctor Who cards because they’re fun, but I wouldn’t play them outside of a Doctor Who-themed game.
The LOTR set is pushing it, but at least it’s still fantasy.
You play a SpongeBob card and I’m going to scoop. GG.
I believe this, but sometimes I need to lean into it more. View quoted note →
GM, Nostr! Don’t have a good day, have a GREAT day!

GM and Happy Halloween! Start managing your expectations now: you’re not getting anything done this evening, you’re going to get to bed late tonight, and a lot of people/kids are going to have sugar hangovers tomorrow. Life is still good.

Only two things on my mind today. #golfstr

The thing I love about “stack sats” is the emphasis. Success comes from small, consistent actions over time, not one or two big plays in your life.
Even the big decisions like who you marry pales in significance to how you treat them day in and day out.

So Democrats have gone from the party of MeToo to the pro-porn party? Got it.
I’m trying to watch a movie. And I mean *just* watch a movie.
It’s hard. I’m so used to multitasking while relaxing that it’s hard to switch off and just relax.
But we need to relax. On our terms. If we don’t, we’ll collapse.
We can’t create value for anyone. Not ourselves, not the people or causes we care about.
Self care is essential.
Anyway. Back to the movie.
