Which are _your_ current priorities with respect to Bitcoin? Me: 1. Rearrange and improve the self-custody regime. 2. Read and analyze enough on economics to precisely understand why hodling is a good strategy. 3. Keep my node and service stack up running. 4. Educate others

i think this phenomenon is not strictly nostr-specific. in my opinion, it's a consequence of ai, (same) memes, bots, and algols that has destroyed the integrity of short messaging apps. we have reached the "whatever" stage in public spaces. by contrast, books or long-form podcasts still provide real value. and ofc irl encouters. Halfway through @Saifedean Ammous' The Gold Standard, I’m intrigued by its novel genre and delighted by how gripping it is. Without giving away too much, the takeaway for me is this: When the status quo drifts too far from reality, imagining—and building—a better one stops being optional.

Ask yourself how many of your daily services would still work if you were in Iran. Add Gmail to Odell's list. Oh and yes, all my services. View quoted note →

IMHO, the combination of Nature and Architecture is outstanding here in Melbourne image
I have been running #GrapheneOS on my Pixel 8 for about a year now, and I have gotten myself into a bit of a mess with app stores. Apps have been installed using F-Droid, Droid-ify, Obtainium, Zapstore, or Aurora. Do you have any advice on how to clean up? Which app store should I focus on?
Looks like my compiler is a bit of an overachiever: ... [100%] Building CXX object src/test/CMakeFiles/test_bitcoin.dir/__/wallet/test/walletload_tests.cpp.o [101%] Building CXX object src/test/CMakeFiles/test_bitcoin.dir/ipc_tests.cpp.o [101%] Linking CXX executable ../../bin/test_bitcoin [101%] Built target test_bitcoin
The concepts of being "antifragile" or going "long vol" comes to mind: "The reason that being healthy and robust equates with greater variance and larger fluctuations, and therefore a larger fractal dimension as in an EKG, is closely related to the resilience of such systems. Being overly rigid and constrained means that there isn’t sufficient flexibility for the necessary adjustments needed to withstand the inevitable small shocks and perturbations to which any system is subjected. Think of the stresses and strains your heart is exposed to every day, many of which are unexpected." Copied from the book "SCALE" by Geoffrey West.
I am working on my local AI setup (getting all of Supermicro, Nvidia, Ubuntu, Ollama, and AnythingLLM to talk efficiently to each other), which is very exciting. However, this kind of work also hijacks my speech center, so I'll just share a picture of my recent trip to Berlin. image
This week @BTC Map was serving me well again when I bought a pair of fabulous shoes at Atheist Shoes in Berlin ( When I told the owner that I thought it was very cool that he was accepting Bitcoin, he said that he no longer does because there were very few customers buying with Bitcoin, and that his service provider had terminated the service. Ten minutes later, he was gladly accepting Bitcoin again. I think he was just early, and that the kind of nerds buying his shoes did not overlap with the Bitcoin kind of nerds. I can see the two subgroups converging... Cool store and super friendly owner.
Today I have received a parcel that came all the way from Shiraz (Iran) to my home in Switzerland. Firstly, this miniature Persian rug is an excellent piece of art and craftsmanship. And secondly, for me, it is a success story for Nostr and Bitcoin. @Pegah and I know of each other from Nostr only, and Nostr's WoT facilitated the communication and the trade. And Bitcoin provided the payment rails. Thank you, @Pegah Rug , Nostr, and Bitcoin. image
