The more I dig, the more I don't see a good reason to increase the op_return. This is a bad decision.

I guess I'm one of those #vtubers.
Having fun talking about general topics, vrchat/similar, and games. Also #indiedev #gamedev. You can call me: Freak فْرِيكٌ フリク (still learning Nihongo).

Still just digging into what seems like another undesired shitshow in the Bitcoin space of discussions, but it seems like it's about increasing the size limit of op_return from 80 bytes to something like 4mb?
And because of that there's obviously a concern of vile media being added there.
What's the reason they want to increase the size? Because I don't see one.
A coworker and current deg mods dev had a lightbulb idea to fix a massive UX issue, as well as a great security check, regarding sending/receiving Bitcoin and/or knowing who you're trying to find/message on nostr (and can be used in many different applications).
Can't say what it is at the moment, but I saw a demonstration for it and damn was it good. Don't think it's been made before, but maybe I'm wrong, and if it was made then it'd be curious why it isn't widely used.
Now they're trying to figure out how to make it more... user-identifiable, is what I'll call the next step.
Once that had been figured out, I'd imagine a test build would be released so anyone can try. If it works out / the value is truly there, it'd be implemented everywhere, I'd imagine.
I'm still thinking about it, but basically I'm trying to think of a system where you can transfer your games that you have on Steam, GOG, Itch, EGS, and so on, in a permissionless sense, to your DEGA account (normie wording for now =P / nostr keypairs).
Like what GOG did, GOG Connect, but for all possible games from the start and user-side (so you wouldn't wait for DEGA to get permission from sellers on any store to then give you permission to do so), it'd be all on you to do.
I already have an idea how to do it, or doing it as best as I can think of, and would move forward with it when it's time comes (most likely would have its own NIP/kind).
Why? Many reasons, but mainly for alleviating the concerns of "what if my account got locked/frozen or deleted?" or "what if the comoany goes under and I lose everything?".
Side note:
It's good that DEGA is in this design phase / not actual development, while DEG Mods is being developed (which actually means that DEGA is being developed in a sense, because a lot of what's there will be used for it), because it gives a lot of breathing room to properly plan out what's needed and have a near complete map when the technical development starts.
Idea (some1makeITplzThnx):
Nostr
Blossom
Cashu
VMs
Other stuff probably for privacy
Decentralized ondemand Virtual Machines, usage and payment by the minute and/or topup / no subscription
ok bye.
When I get the chance, I ask friends "so whats one or more things that you wish Steam would have, or you'd want to improve on it?".
Some would say that they wouldn't know.
Others would have something immediately to share.
Others would say "well, it's perfect" but after waiting and poking a bit, they'd have some issue to share.
While I'm covering a lot, I definitely missing on things and that's why I ask, friends and online, and so far 3 to 6 things have been considered and added or to be added that increases the value of the store/client (design wise at least / so far).
If anyone got anything to share, now or later, even randomly with an abrupt message of a thought that came while you were taking a shit, important or silly, I definitely wouldn't mind hearing it, because it'll most likely make a better product/tool in the end.

So there's the follow list, and I think there's the contact list, though in the case for DEGA, for the friends list, a new NIP needs to be created, where an npub adds another to their friends list, but it'd appear as "one-sided" (yes I'm giggling x3) on thr client side until that other npub does the same, then the state would be "friend" upon discovering the other published event that would contain their npub.
At which point, the chat system would be the same as DMs, but with a specific tag (tags?) to know that it's coming from a friend (anything else would be ignored)
I would imagine this would also be used for a discord-like client.

I can't figure out what's a good icon for "feed" or "timeline" (from existing icon packages like fontawesome), since most apps use the "home" icon, so there really wasn't a need for such an icon.
And considering what I'm designing, chat bubble icon, users icon, and whatever else one could thing of, is being used more appropriately for other elements.
The struggles of building on nostr x3
I guess one important UX thing to do in regards to cashu/ecash is the ability to view the lightning connections a mint has if possible, of the ecash received, and a search field to see if there's a path to send to a different lighting wallet, and a quick calculation option to see what can be possibly sent out to the desired destination (all of this is to decrease the guesswork for a user to know if they can get their money out of the minter and to know what amount they can send out so they don't do multiple failed attempts at sending, and would be a safety mechanism to know if you can even get the mint out so you don't get scammed).
For anyone making #nostr apps/site seriously, not having a nostr remote signer support (like Amber) is a massive UX and security issue, on any OS.
I don't get what's the issue some people are bringing up with social media people discovery on nostr.
In all social media throughout my life, I "discovered" accounts by first following companies that I liked (in my case, it was game companies) to get updates from them (so this is real life discovery), and I check their posts, see people reply, discuss with some of those replies, and eventually they may lead to me checking their profile and following them.
My circle of friends, if I had any on social, would interact with what I'm interacting, and vice versa, and the same is done on the other side / the other individual I'm talking with, and the network gets bigger.
I've also used hashtags to find people to follow as if, if they interest me, and heck I've also search for specific keywords too.
I've already seen so much more useful systems created on nostr, like sets, or seeing the timeline of another or a group, both of which are really cool and created out of a perceived discovery problem, when there isn't? It's cool, but chill, nothing is broken x3 (well, maybe relays being too dumb, but that's a separate issue).
*Lets out a deep breath
The design for a game's store page on DEGA is done.
There were A LOT of things to consider/design x3
But it's lookin good, as I designed it in a way / added a bunch of stuff that's for the great benefit of the user/customer/gamer =3
The next logical design step is the game/other publication page.
Work on this will slow down for a bit, though; other work came in that needs attention (you know, so I can get money to buy hummus and satiate my hunger x3).
