The Vioxx Scandal (never forget) This drug, produced by Merck & Co, resulted in the death of 40,000-60,0000 people and hundreds of thousands of strokes and heart disease reactions with many additional premature deaths. It is assumed that Merck was aware of the deadly side effects but decided the lawsuit payouts would be less than the profits and moved forward with the release. By 2007, Merck had settled around 27,000 lawsuits for approximately $4.85 billion, without admitting wrongdoing. This was one of the largest mass tort lawsuits in pharmaceutical history. The Vioxx scandal underscored issues of selective publication of research findings, conflicts of interest in medical research, and the ethical responsibilities of pharmaceutical companies in reporting potential drug risks.

I joined the Fediverse a while back as a solution to Big Tech algorithms, censorship, and data mining. I even ran a few of my own instances on my own servers. It seemed like the ultimate solution, but then COVID hit and the community became divided. Entire servers got blocked, which eventually chopped the Fediverse into little dictator ran islands. I finally left feeling a bit demoralized over social media. Then NOSTR showed up. I lurked a bit and only recently decided to post here. I dare say, I am once again excited about social media and where it might go. Now I must find my people and build my tribe while sharing great content and making genuine connections.
