It's been a long while since I last perused #bookstr, and I was pleasantly surprised to see people enjoying physical books again. I often do the same, but whilst out and about, I'll often bring my Kobo or Moaan ereaders. They're more compact and will hold up significantly better than a paperback in my bag, whether on a day trip or flying abroad. Anyone else do the same?
Just in the last few days, I've run across several sites that have implemented something called Anubis: At first, I was a bit surprised to see the Anubis wait screen, as I've never encountered this kind of security mechanism before. However, now that I've seen it several times, I have to ask: why aren't all webdevs using this instead of CAPTCHAs? #asknostr
Over the last week or so, I've complained about Proton-related issues when using NewPipe, FreeTube, etc. Watching via Kazakhstan, Nepal, or European countries has been incredibly slow, so I decided to try, server-by-server whether there were any possible options in Southeast Asia. Each time I try a new one, I keep getting a new error from FreeTube: "Error: YouTube has blocked your IP address from watching videos. Please try switching to a different VPN or proxy." I think it may be time to write to Proton to see what can be done. #protonvpn #privacy #freetube #newpipe #youtube View quoted note →
For being a fairly minimalistic client, I was surprised to see that Voyage has some unique features. For example, I'm able to create notes anonymously. I'll test that out in a few minutes to see how that functions. As well, notes can have subject lines and even attached topics. Pretty neat.
I got some great recommendations from fellow nostriches on text-only clients. Right now, I'm transmitting this note via Voyage, which works great for skimming through the most recent text content. Let's see how it works for posting too.
Are there any text-only Nostr clients? While I love me some memes, I'd occasionally enjoy surfing through text-only content, whether on desktop or on my Android devices. #asknostr
Is there a way to set my 0xChat cashu wallet as my default wallet in Amethyst, Yakihonne, or other Android clients? It'd beat manually copying over lightning invoices. #asknostr
One of the best ways to deal with the heat here is to sip on fresh coconut water throughout the day. The second best way may be to visit your nearest mall. Whether you're in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Manila, locals and visitors alike love the free air conditioning in the malls.
I decided to reinstall Citrine to see how it works. I never could quite see the point of it before, but let's test it out and see what happens this time around.
Has anyone used Robosats over I2P? If so, are you using the publicly listed domain on the Robosats site? I can't seem to get it to load. #asknostr #i2p #robosats #p2p
Using Proton, I've struggled to watch videos with NewPipe and FreeTube for a week or three now. Using my usual servers in Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, etc have proved ineffective. Going slightly further afield (India, Japan, etc.) has been hit or miss. At npub1cj6ndx5akfazux7f0vjl4fyx9k0ulf682p437fe03a9ndwqjm0tqj886t6's suggestion, I tried changing things up even more and have greater success with servers in Nepal, Kazakhstan, Belgium, and places even more distant to East and Southeast Asia. Anyone have any idea why this would be occurring? Anyone else experiencing this? Would it be worth contacting Proton? If so, what data would be most helpful to provide them? I'm not exact a VPN or network expert by any stretch of the imagination. #asknostr View quoted note →
Argh! Both NewPipe (on my Android device) and FreeTube (on my desktop computers) are now down. I can't seem to view any content. Invidious has been hit or miss the last number of weeks. Piped has been dysfunctional on most instances for months. Are there any other, semi-stable options left out there? Or has YouTube/Google finally closed most of the loopholes? #asknostr
